Dr. Katie Garrelts, MD

She is an amazing doctor that took the time to get a second opinion on my test results and always had my best interest at heart.

She was one of the best GYNs I've ever seen but sadly left Jefferson for private practice as all the good ones do! I am surprised by the negative reviews as I had the exact opposite experience. Also not fair to judge the doctor based on the responsiveness of the office staff.

I went for a routine Pap smear as a new patient to try a doctor closer to home. It took the office a month to call me to say my pap was abnormal and I would need a procedure that couldn't be scheduled for over a month! I asked for the doctor to call me back and it took five calls back and forth to connect because no one could tell me when the doctor would be calling me. At one point during our phone tag, the doctor left a message that she would not be calling me anymore because she can't get me. When I called again and finally spoke with her, she could not answer my questions and was disinterested in the conversation. After the call, I had no confidence in this doctor and called my former gynecologist. I received a call back that day and had my procedure the next week. The results showed nothing wrong as previously indicated by Dr. Garrelts. I would definitely not recommend this doctor because of her unprofessional and caring manner and lack of knowledge.

She was one of the worst GYNs I've seen - She has terrible bedside manner and is extremely condescending and rushes you without leaving room for questions. I had an incident where she decided I probably had a major medical condition without taking into consideration the external factors which were the onset of the symptoms, nor did she explain to me the seriousness of the condition she was speculating on, and made me go for tests. When the tests came back negative, no one from the office or Dr. Garrelts called me to explain the negative results NOR to explain the status the condition she thought I might have. When I finally got ahold of her myself after calling the office for weeks, her response was "Well if you're still worried about it, you can get an ultrasound" But the thing is, I was never worried I had this condition until she speculated it off-handed in her office when I came in to discuss the symptom. This was the worst interaction I've had with her, but there are several more.

Dr. Garrelts is the best! She asks the right questions, and provides thorough information. She is very kind, and makes it easy to discuss any concerns that you may have. She runs on time, but gives you ample time in your visit not to feel rushed.

I, along with my family, LOVE Dr. Garrelts! She really has supported us and took good care of us throughout our journey to parenthood. I can't recommend her enough.

I love Dr. Garrelts. She takes time with her patients. She listened and addressed all my questions and concerns. Hope she will be there to deliver our baby. She is fantastic.
