I went into the ER three weeks after my C-section because there was a foul smell coming from my incision and I was worried about infection. She came in and barely looked at me and told me that she was sure it was “yeast” that I was smelling since I “had an apron belly” (I just had a baby…of course I did…). I tried to advocate for myself so she checked my cervix and acted disgusted and told me she “didn’t know why but my cervix had green/yellow mucus coming out of it” then sent me home with note telling me to get powder for my “yeast” problem. I called OB the next morning crying and begging to be seen. When OB saw me they said I didn’t have yeast but that my incision had ripped open in the middle and created a hematoma (which caused the smell) and that my cervical mucus was totally normal for only 3 weeks postpartum. This provider was negligent and humiliated/shamed me while very vulnerable due to her lack of care and potentially lack of education on Women’s Health.
