He's the BEST!
The visit was a second opinion for my teen's dislocated shoulder. We're going with him because I like his post-op and rehab approach. I'm a PT and this means a lot to me. He's also a lovely human with a fantastic bedside manner.

Star rated ACL Surgeon
Dr. Chan has performed multiple ACL surgeries for my family. Both my kids played soccer and tore their ACLs. We are lucky to have found him. He spends the time to evaluate and look for the best option for the individual and their recovery. Multiple follow up appointments over 8 months and a personal phone call from the doctor the following day. Amazing attention to detail and he shows a ton of care with his patients.

Opinion on Shoulder Surgery
I took my college-aged son to Dr. Chan for a second opinion since my son is in schoolIn LA and we were looking for a surgeon near our home in the Bay Area. He gave us the confidence to post-pone possible reconstruction until after he finishes college rugby. He was attentive, compassionate and thorough. If we need to do a surgery in the future we will definitely look to Dr. Chan.

Saved my meniscus!
I destroyed my knee playing soccer, with full ACL and MCL tear, and both meniscii torn as well. One meniscus had a bad tear, another orthopedic in SF would not repair it, only trim but Dr Chan was willing to try to save it. And indeed, my meniscus was saved. It was a long process, I am still rehabbing after more than a year post surgery but I'm seeing the end of the tunnel... Couldn't recommend Dr Chan enough!

Brushed my concerns off
I had knee arthroscopy for a torn meniscus about 18 months ago. Even for that surgery Dr. Chan was not very encouraging telling me that surgery could make my pain worse. Sure enough, it was, but my PT helped me through it to a good situation until my pain came back and my knee started locking up. I went to see Dr. Chan again; he told me that there wasn't anything he could do and that having an MRI done 'would only make me feel worse' about my situation. I left feeling cruddy and only with a PT script that I had to request. Not to give up, I went to see another doctor at a different practice who ordered the MRI and walked me through options to relieve pain. She was patient, explained short and long term options and prognoses. This is precisely what is lacking in Dr. Chan's practice. Dr. Chan may be technically competent, but I don't see him treating the whole patient. I have had successful ankle and wrist surgeries from others in his practice, so I know it's Dr. Chan alone.

Excellent Orthopedic Care & Successful Treatment
I had the privilege of being treated by Dr. Keith Chan, an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, for a tibial plateau fracture due to a mountain bike accident. Dr. Chan's expertise, professionalism, and compassion impressed me from the start. He evaluated my injury, explained the treatment options, and addressed all my concerns, putting me at ease. The surgery to fix my fracture was a success, thanks to Dr. Chan's surgical precision and comforting presence. His post-operative care and availability for follow-ups were exemplary. I am grateful for Dr. Chan's exceptional care, which allowed me to regain mobility and resume daily activities. I wholeheartedly recommend him for orthopedic care. Thank you, Dr. Chan, for your invaluable contribution to my recovery!

Dr. Chan and his whole office have been very responsive and very helpful through this whole process. The Presidio surgery center was amazing and a really good experience. All in all, this is been way more pleasant than I thought it would be. Also, the fact that Dr. Chan checks in every day via Health loop has been wonderful; I have asked questions and gotten answers promptly.

I've seen Dr. Chan for two separate injuries in as many years, both of which required a fair amount of appointments with physical therapists that didn't completely end the pain and resulted in more appointments with other doctors to find the cause. In both instances Dr. Chan worked hard to help me find options that worked for me. The first time cortisone shots and serious PT and the second surgery. Both times I felt listened to and supported.

Dr. Chan was professional every step of the way! Unfortunately had to push back my surgery due to work conflicts. As soon as I can find an opening I will be using Dr. Chan. I have consulted with a variety of different surgeons in the Bay Area and everyone I've talked to "Surgeons" have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Chan as well. He was honest and straight to the point and even gave me a suggested timeline for my case.
