Fully explained everything to me
Went into emergency room at Duke with very low blood pressure and was seen immediately and the doctor was very kind, polite, and explained everything to me and in language I could understand. I do not understand his low rating. Apparently people are thinking of him as a family physician rather than an emergency room doctor.

Dismissive, rude, and dishonest charting
Went with my 83 year old mother for HTN, HA, nausea and poor appetite. He did not examine her AT ALL! No stethescope used, no palpating her abdomen, etc. yet he used his EMR to document he did. He was dismissive and basically came and went with no signs of concern or care.

While Dr. Tatka was nothing but polite, he did not explain my condition. I was prescribed some medicine and wasn't told whether I should take the medicine if the symptoms resumed (instruction given by the nurse when asked) or as directed on the post-op sheets. Granted it was late at night and I visited Dr. Tatka in the emergency room, I would have felt more at ease if I received more thorough instructions.
