Dropped me after initial visit
I have a diagnosed autoimmune disorder. I gave this doctor my records clearly showing why I had that diagnosis. All she had to do was prescribe the common autoimmune drug that I was already on. She completely blew me off while I ran out of medication. She also denied that I could have severe pain & completely ignored the dangerous vasculitis symptoms I was having. I paid over $500 out of pocket to waste my time running out of medication.

Has no interest in patient!
She made a diagnosis before I ever stepped through the door and nothing I said was going to change her mind. She then became visibly upset when I questioned her.

Agressively incorrect diagnosis
I was polite and respectful with her during every visit, though I was in considerable discomfort. Dr. Portnoff laughed at me on two occasions. She diagnosed me with a condition that I didn't have and which didn't match my symptoms, and she denied the diagnosis other specialists had made.

Trust these low ratings! Don't waste your time!
There is a reason for Dr. Portnoff's low ratings. I have never felt so ignored by a health care professional. She did not give me any opportunity to discuss my symtpons, and any time I tried she would interrupt. What is the point of filling out a symptom checklist if we do not discuss any of the symptoms? I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. I have let my PCP and other specialist know that they should not refer any patients to this doctor.

Seek care elsewhere
I transferred my rheumatology care to Dr. Portnoff when moving to Portland from out of state. It was immediately clear Dr. Portnoff did not consider my diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis to be valid, her reasons being that my inflammatory markers were not elevated in blood panels, and x-rays did not indicate damage. This was extremely unfortunate of her as a provider to rely on these outdated standards for diagnosing, since the updated diagnostic standards take into account that many patients with PsA will not have elevated markers, and that x-rays will only begin to show disease once it has progressed to the level of damaging the skeletal structure. I was suffering with enthesitis (soft tissue inflammation) and quite severe fatigue, both of which I had taken an extensive amount of time with my previous rheumatologist to assess and establish the diagnosis. The care relationship was an uphill battle against her willingness to acknowledge my condition, and in turn offer treatment.

I would recommend Dr Portnoff
I have been seeing Dr Portnoff for 2 years and she has helped me through the beginning stages of RA and a nasty case of PMA. She has been responsive, diligent and caring. Her staff have been great too. I frankly do not see any of the negative traits mentioned in some of these reviews. I appreciate her calm, fact-based approach.

Just see her judge for yourself!
I was referred to her by my orthopedic and saw these reviews and was worried. I even thought about calling him and asking for someone else. I’m glad I didn’t. She was super thorough and kind. She listened to all my issues and explained everything In detail. I would 1000% recommend her to anyone. At least for me the visit was phenomenal and I’m confident she has me on track to a better life!!

Condescending
I've never had a more biased provider in my life. Like others have said totally dismissive and has very specific ideas that are unrelated to the visit. I think, if you do not have an option to see someone else it's worth a try. If you have another option, use it.

Great Doctor!
I have been a patient of Dr. Portnoff for several years and will continue to be. She is a down to earth genuine person, great bedside manner and very knowledgeable about Rheumatoid Arthritis (what I see her for) and available treatments. I have never found her to be dismissive, in fact quite the opposite. She is thorough and answers questions that come up, listens to concerns, and I feel takes great care in explaining what she thinks will be the best course of action. I highly recommend her!

DO NOT.
I initially saw Dr. Portnoff back in May of 2022 after 3 positive ANA's with concerning symptoms across the board for lupus, RA and autoimmune gastritis. When I saw Dr. Portnoff, she was extremely inattentive and dismissive. She straight up told me " people with lupus dont get lightheaded" which is medically inaccurate. I explained to her that I recently had gastritis, and my GI physician was concerned for possible autoimmune gastritis. Dr. Portnoff insisted that I had "Fibromyalgia" which did not explain any of my symptoms. Dr. Portnoff failed to order the correct labs which screen for autoimmune gastritis. 5 months later, I have recurrent gastritis. After the proper lab was ordered by my new GI physician, my test came back positive for autoimmune gastritis. I am EXTREMELY infuriated by her lack of attentiveness. I am even more disappointed as she failed to do her job as a medical physician. If there is any case for medical negligence, I will be proceeding. Don't waste your time.

Condescending and did not get back to me
Condescending and did not get back to me over 30 years dealing with various rheumatological problems. First visit with her as my Doctor No longer with practice. Acted like I was never sick finally agreed to run labs. A week later after visit having received abnormal labs still no answer and to not reach anyone live there. Had to go to emergency care and then an ophthalmologist. Both he and my PCP said labs severely abnormal but could not provide further details and my own portal did not answer that either

there’s a reason all of these reviews are bad
when she walked in the room (before lookin at an x-ray, giving a physical exam, talking to me, or looking at a single test result) and said “i doubt you have ra”. i feel like i knew more about this disease then she did! every symptom she attributed to something else. it’s as if she looks for reasons not to give you a diagnosis. my reg doc did 1 of the 5 tests for ra and she wouldn’t even order the rest. when i asked about seronegative ra, she said “you don’t have that”. i guess she is a psychic and knows this magically? i’ve read ra patients need to see 3 rheumatologist before they actually get a correct diagnosis and now i see why. save yourself some time and SEE ANOTHER DOC who actually wants to help!!!

I went to Dr. Portnoff at the recommendation of my PCP. Not only did I have to wait three months to see her, she was extremely curt and my time there felt like an interrogation, not a consult. I have family history of auto-immune diseases and she didn't even want to consider my symptoms, blamed everything on my fibromyalgia, and then told me she wouldn't treat me for that either. All of this was a big waste of time

I feel like there should be public awareness in the form of a public service warning of practices of Kelly Portnoff. I hesitate greatly to add the "Dr." to her name. She is completely inept as a doctor. There is no professionalism whatsoever. The Portland Clinic is doing a major disservice to its patients by employing her. She basically told me there is nothing wrong with me while sitting there looking at two different positive test indicating an autoimmune disorder. She told me they were false positives (on two different TYPES of tests) and refused to acknowledge the list of symptoms I have and didn't even examine my swollen joints and face rashes. She told me the chronic pain I have lived with for years was all in my head and that there is nothing wrong with me. She would not let me get a word in edgewise. When she started making political statements instead of examining my body or test results, I asked her to leave my room so I could get dressed. I left her office in tears and from

I have to agree with many other comments on here about this doc. She should NOT be in this position. She is really rude and doesn't seem to truly care. Quite odd for an Md! She interrupted me multiple times and discounted what other physicians told me as well as the safety warnings of a specific medicine. On top of it, she didn't value my feedback on a supplement that appears to work. Don't even waste your time scheduling with her.

I am no longer going to Dr. Portnoff. I went to see her 3 times. The first time my daughter came with me and it was, just OK. The 2nd and 3rd time, I cried both times when I left. Portnoff's bedside manner was so course and terse that I would say she missed her calling as the lone person on a base in Antartica. She is horrible. I gave her 3 times because everyone has a bad day. I stopped going to my PCP because of this doctor. What a waste!
