Dr. Korthauer always asks questions and listens completely before making suggestions. He answers my questions without sugar coating anything and offers options that will help me. I have arthritis in my knees but knee replacement surgery could be very risky because of a health condition. The doctor is very understanding about this health risk when explaining options to help me walk without too much pain. I trust him completely.

I've seen Dr. Korthauer a few times and each time I left his office feeling frustrated and disappointed. He did not have a good bedside manner at all and seemed very uncaring. I have severe knee pain and he told me that I needed to lose weight in order to get knee replacement surgery. I ended up losing over 100 lbs and when I went back to see him he asked why I haven't lost more and that I needed to consider seeing a psychologist about my weight. I was taken aback. I had worked so hard for him to just diminish my accomplishments and further insult me. I found Dr. Korthauer to be extremely insensitive and maybe it's only towards obese patients , I don't know. I gave him a few tries and had the same experience each time so I opted to switch doctors. I try to warn as many people as I can because I don't want anything to deal with that type of insensitivity.

He did my second knee replacement and it healed several months faster than with my last surgeon. The whole process was much smoother.
