Good luck actually meeting or talking with Dr. Shockley. My initial visit was done by a Physician's Assistant and after my blood work was completed, I was willing to go to his office or do a telephone conference to discuss the results but was told he doesn't meet with patients unless there's an issue he perceives to be serious.

Shockley is so terrible, he should not be called a "doctor." He is the worst doctor that I have ever had. He is bully, talks super fast, doesn't listen, be-rates fellow doctors who we know to be exceptionally excellent, and allows only about 7 minutes to do what most urologists would allow 20-25 minutes; consequently, the quality of his work is super poor and his explanations are almost non-existent.

I was not happy at all with my first visit to Dr. Shockley. He was abrupt, unprepared, berated me, and did not answer my one important question. Not going back. Staff were fabulous!

Will not see you in the office; shunts the intro visit to his PA, who inever replies to messages or calls, and is unqualified to answer specific questions. I met Dr Shockley in the hospital immediately before my surgical procedure, almost with my feet in tbe stirrups. That works for him, I'm sure, but it's so disrespectful to patients. It says "if it's not surgery, I don't have time for you". He doesn't communicate afterward, either. Find a different doctor.

At first I was very happy that I could be fit in for surgery when I had a very painful kidney stone get caught in my ureter, however, after my surgery and complications, I was treated very differently. It was like they got my insurance payment, but the post op care (which is included for a specific amount of time after surgery and unable to be billed for), I was treated very differently. I had a stent that slipped out of my ureter over the weekend, and the on-call doctor treated me like I was stupid for asking my questions. So I re-read my post op instructions only to find out they had not prescribed one of the anti-spasm medications that were on my list but not given, likely the cause of my uncontrollable pain. I ended up with 2 ER visits, 2 x-rays, 2 CT scans, and at 2nd post op, told there was another stone still in the same kidney but they didn’t attempt to get it out? Never even saw the doctor again, only PA and given little less than helpful answers to help avoid further issues.

I had X-rays bc I was in pain for 3 wks w/ a fever I could not control. He didn't call me with the results for 6 days. On the 7th day I went in the E.R. and they pulled up the X-rays & showed a 13mm stone lodged in my ureter. I was majorally Septic. Hospitalized for 4 days & had to have a bag put into my kidney to drain it... For 3 weeks, then have surgery to remove the stone. Then 3 wks later, remove the tube. $4,000 later.. & 1-more year, Again, I have the the same 13mm lodged. Went elsewhere

Dr. Shockley treated me for quite a complicated congenital defect when I was 44 years old. It involved major surgery that was successful with a fairly long hospital stay. He has also treated me for kidney stones and performed a bladder sling procedure a few years later and lithotripsy at another time. I have always had confidence in his ability and have been more than satisfied with his bedside manner. He has always treated me with respect and taken the time to explain procedures to me .
