Poor patient CARE.
Dr Burn’s may be a good technician however when it comes to patient care it is my opinion that he is substantially lacking. If you urgently need to talk with him post-surgery, it ain’t going to happen. He has been completely non-responsive after several attempts to contact him over a period of months.

Difficult Surgery
After many years of lower back episodes and after I had gone through the recent process of three epidurals which did nothing to improve my issues, I researched physicians online to find one that I felt could help me get down the road further. Dr Keven Burns at the Arizona Spine Clinic stood out from the others. My first visit with him and his team went very well. After the consultation it was jointly decided that I would have reconstruction surgery from L2-S1. It was a two day surgery on Oct 5 & 6, 2023 covering 9.5 hours at the Honor Health Thomson Peak Hospital. It was a difficult surgery and Dr Burns was exhausted after both days. He performed miraculously. I was fortunate that my wife was a former neuro rehab nurse as the rehabilitation after this was very difficult. Overall, I was told recovery would be 9-12 months. It is now six months post surgery and I have minimal pain. I highly recommend Dr Burns!

Back Surgery
Dr Burns recently did surgery on my back. Everything went extremely well. I was well informed before the surgery, well cared for during the surgery, and appropriately followed after the surgery. Within a couple of hours after release from the surgery center I was up walking and within a few days I was doing 10000 steps a day. I have had very little pain, my legs are getting stronger every day and I believe I am well on my way to complete recovery. I highly recommend Dr Burns and his staff.

Jury is Still Out
As with most Board Certified Spine Surgeons, Dr. Burns is clearly bright, well-educated, very personable, with an engaging and energetic style. The Spine Institute of AZ for which he works, needs to rethink its approach to patient relations and communication. I've been around a while, and am an expert in Organizational Effectiveness, and they need to improve the patient-facing aspects of their medical group. Ok, that said... Dr. Burns removed a cyst from my lumbar spine. It didn't relieve the leg pain. New MRI showed a "new" cyst (still not sure if its the same one). He suggested their Pain Management Doctor attempt to drain it. That procedure also failed. In fact, it made my pain worse as the Doctor injected additional fluid into the cyst in a long-shot attempt to rupture it. No one from Spine Institute called to check up on me. Six days later, I initiated contact and only secured the Operative Report. Since then, 4 more days and...crickets. Do I give them another shot?

I had spine surgery a year ago and I am pain free after many years. He is very kind and very attentive. I trust him completely because he is very straight forward and honest. I really can’t say enough about what a great surgeon and person he is. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough. I had a failed surgery years ago and he removed old hardware and replaced with new. I would recommend him to anyone with spine issues.

Dr Burns was the best referral ever. Suffering sever sciatica pain fro 7 plus months to the point of not being able to work or drive, surgery was my only option. After my first visit with Dr Burns, I know he heard me well enough to know what I was feeling. He is a great communicator and is very easy to talk to. Having the surgery was one of the hardest and best decisions of my life. I am now totally pain free. My confidence in Dr Burns has exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend him for anyone suffering from back pain. Carson, his medical assistant was a huge help to me with navigating all of the paperwork for my LOA. He answered all of my questions as they came along. I truly appreciate all of the professionalism that I received. Thank-you

I had a very successful procedure. The whole process was quick and quite painless, ( at least for my laminectomy ). For anyone hesitant on getting surgery as I initially was, I would say move forward. It was the best thing I did to alleviate the issue. The office staff was great, especially Carson.

I woke up in October with severe pain in my left hip with shooting pain down my left leg. It got progressively worse to where I was basically home bound. I was referred to the Spine Institute by a friend and was able to get an appt quickly due to a cancellation. I flew from New Mexico to see Dr. Burns at the end of November. I had compressed vertebrae at L4 and L5. Due to Covid-19 "elective" surgeries were not allowed until February. In my opinion, back surgery should not be elective, but I digress. I flew back to Scottsdale and Dr. Burns did my surgery on February 4th. The vertebrae were lodged in against my spinal cord and had caused a small hole in my spinal cord. Dr. Burns and his team were able to repair the spinal cord and added a rod between the vertebrae. This surgery was the best thing I have ever done! I had previously told my sister that if I couldn't be fixed, I didn't think I wanted to live. I am currently 7 weeks post surgery and have never felt better!

I had trouble with My back and a sciatic nerve for sometime. My general physician Dr.Williams, referred Me to Dr.Burns because of the quality service He could supply in resolving My back problems which were very complicated. Upon My first visit with Dr.Burns, He took the time to listen to My problems and setup a course in detail to proceed to have it resolved. I placed My confidence in Dr.Burns and He far exceeded My expectations. He performed surgery on Me and the results were nothing less than a miracle. I am now totally pain free. Anyone having any type of back or leg problems, I personally highly recommend they see Dr.Burns as soon as possible and get their problems resolved. Thank You Dr.Burns!

I haven't made a visit to your clinic but I did see Dr. Burns in St. George, UT. I can't tell you how much Dr. Burns did for me. He gave me my life back. I said I would never have back surgery well I ended up having it. Dr. Burns preformed the surgery Jan. of 2020 and yes it has taken me along time to recovery but I am doing great. Dr. Burns I still can't hike but I will get there as time goes on. I can do activities that were so hard for me before the surgery. Now I can at least stand for more then 2 minutes in line to pay for whatever I am buying, where before I couldn't without allot of pain. Yes, Dr. Burns I lived to my 80th Birthday on December 30th without the surgery I don't think I would have made it. I pray for you everyday and I thank you for giving me my life back. I have been suffering since 2007 with horrible spine pain. Injections and therapy stopped helping. Dr Burns performed surgery on 11/10/20 and now my pain level is maybe a 3 when it was at 10 plus. I have feeling in my left foot again. He is a magician!!
