A Devastating Lack of Compassion and Care part 1
I went to the ER on the direct advice of my OB, who told me to ask the emergency staff to contact the on-call OB so I could receive an ultrasound. I was experiencing concerning symptoms in pregnancy, and my OB was concerned enough to refer me to the hospital immediately. When Dr. Crumpton came in to assess me, I relayed exactly what my OB had instructed. Instead of following those directions, he dismissed them entirely. He refused to call the on-call OB because I wasn’t experiencing vaginal bleeding or discharge. His tone was cold and condescending, and he made me feel like I was overreacting. I was already anxious and visibly upset, and he showed no empathy, no kindness—just indifference and resistance. His bedside manner was some of the worst I’ve ever experienced, especially in a situation that called for compassion and urgency. But this wasn’t just about poor attitude. His refusal to listen and take action had real, devastating consequences.

Unnecessary testing
While Dr. Crumpton responded somewhat compassionately to our 'emergency situation' in Keystone, he ordered numerous unnecessary tests for an otherwise healthy 19-year-old that happened to pass out due to mild dehydration, exhaustion, and the altitude. When all tests came back normal, he then tried to transfer him to another hospital for further testing. These unnecessary tests ($89 to check for COVID with no symptoms, etc.) resulted in over $9000 in fees. If he would have taken more time to get to know him first as a patient and a person, he would have realized that a bag or two of fluids would have been sufficient and the expenses would have been greatly reduced.
