Ok Experience
Saw him for initial cancer diagnosis and he seemed competent. He took the time to explain my diagnosis and showed me the scans. It’s scary seeing the tumor invading your body, but I asked to see it. I’m glad I did. He was patient and answered my questions. I had some issues with chemo and he adjusted the dosage. He also prescribed meds for nausea. He seemed caring until there were some major complications and treatment needed to be delayed. What I did not appreciate was that he did not advocate for me when it came down to more chemo that the surgeon demanded. I kept asking why more chemo which would delay surgery by 3 more months without scans to see what the tumor was doing. Had he just voiced his own opinion and ordered appropriate scans instead of deferring, it would have helped. Would I see him again, maybe. Well, probably not because I like and trust my new oncologist. I need to trust that my oncologist is looking out for me.

Dont waste your time if you actually need help. This guy claims to be an Hematologist but couldnt help nor cared to help a person with an Iron saturation of 3%. Didnt ask any pertinent questions about diet or tell me what and what not to do, was basically worthless after 2 visits. I was told by an Elmhurst ER doc that I needed an infusion and he kept telling me how expensive it was. Was equally clueless about the fact that drastically low iron has heart effects and and can lead to stroke. Had literally no idea. If my body doesnt convert iron from my diet, it isnt magically going to convert a pill, guy. Then tried to tell me my iron deficiency isnt the reason Im weak and tired. Ok. Very arrogant and egotistical. If you want actually help, head elsewhere.

Dr. Dawravoo is the best GI cancer out there. Not only is he smart and knows what he is doing, he is so sympathetic to the family. He cares and it shows at every appointment. He took amazing care of my mother. I couldn’t of asked for a better doctor to care for her.
