The Worst doctor experience I’ve ever Had in ER
After 45 minutes of waiting, I watched my wife collapse from pain. She had been given medication 20 minutes earlier, but there was no relief. What else could I do but approach the doctor?'Doctor, can you please check on my wife? She’s still in the same pain.' he told me to wait 15 minutes. I told him 'It's already been 15 minutes, and she’s no better', he responded without even standing up from his chair and with laugh, 'If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.'I couldn’t believe it. My wife, with I’ve been married for 25 years, was in such a state I had never seen her before. She was in desperate need of urgent care, and yet this doctor treated us with such disregard, even laughing at our situation. It was the most humiliating experience I've ever had. This doctor’s complete lack of empathy and professionalism was shocking. I felt powerless and disrespected.Thankfully, we were just minutes away from the end of his shift, and the new doctor who took over treated us like a family.

ER 11/01/21. Treated with respect. He listened to everything I said. Didn’t rush me. Explained what he was recommending for me. Kind and personable. Entire staff was professional. They all were working very hard to treat a very full emergency room.

We took our son to the emergency room this weekend. We had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Kevin Madtes and the staff at St. Joes in Reading. Everyone was attentive, thorough and kind. Dr. Madtes in particular, was wonderful! He never kept us waiting or wondering. He was great with our 3 year old, always compassionate and professional. It was quite a different experience for an emergency room visit. Great service, wonderful nurses and an awesome doctor. Thank you Dr. Madtes.

The first time I saw Dr. Madtes was when he came into my ER room on 12/25/2016. I said nothing. He said, "What do you expect us to do for you? It's Christmas! People here need treatment. You're just wasting everyone's time." I couldn't believe a real doctor was speaking with so much naked hostility to me, so I tried to see if he was a real doctor and he said, "DON'T look at my badge!" He treated me like garbage, a perfect stranger to him. Extremely unprofessional.
