Reverse Shoulder Replacement
Years ago I needed to repair both rotator cuffs. Over time the left one needed to be repaired again. Dr. Shea explained very clearly why I needed to have a reverse shoulder replacement as opposed to another repair. It is outpatient surgery and I only needed 2 over the counter pills for discomfort the first day. Dr. Shea was compassionate and informative. Everything went exactly as he had explained. I am glad I did it and I would recommend Dr. Shea for anyone who has an issue with their shoulder. Don’t put it off—it will only get worse!

Superior Shoulder Replacement
Dr. Shea has a great reputation, and I’d heard him described as “the shoulder guy,” so he was a logical choice for me. I needed a total replacement and under his care, and the other professionals on his staff, I felt safe and respected from start to finish. It’s been a year, and I don’t even think about my shoulder much these days—it feels like part of me again. Would not hesitate giving my top recommendation to anyone in need.

Dr. Shea saved my life
Dr Shea is an amazing human being, professional and especially an awesome surgeon! I had AVN in my right shoulder after complaining at one visit, within a week I had my shoulder replaced. This is how efficient and compassionate Dr Shea is. His staff as well have been so accommodating and so helpful, and have gone out of their way to make sure that my surgery was scheduled ASAP especially Ann, APRN, and Karolina his office assistant. I am currently 3 months out and I can't believe how awesome I feel I feel like I have a normal shoulder which I have not felt in a couple years. He's the BEST!!

10 out of 10 for Dr. Shea and his staff
I first met Dr. Shea in 2014 for a shoulder problem. In late 2022 I saw him again, in Southington office, with severe shoulder pain. He recommended doing a reverse shoulder replacement. I had the replacement done in January 2023 at UCONN in Farmington. The procedure went smoothly. Dr Shea tells you in simple terms what is needed and what will happen. At times, he may appear to be angry, or making fun of you. He is telling it like it is. He snd his staff were available during my rehabilitation to answer questions and offer support. When the time comes, I will have my other shoulder done with Dr. Shea. He and his staff get a 10 out of 10 from me.

New shoulder.
Dr. Shea and his staff, great group of professionals. Answered all my questions and I felt I was well cared for. My shoulder replace was long over due. I should have done it years ago.Dr. Shea's post op instructions were clear. I did the PT and stretching and was back to work in five weeks. Thank you, Dr. Shea, all the staff and the people behind the scene that helped make this go smooth and relatively painless. Eric Z. satisfied customer.

Patient Roger Poudrier
I had a total reverse right shoulder replacement at the end of September 2023. I had my same shoulder repaired twice previously and the there was no rotator cuff left. I am now 4 months post op and my shoulder has never felt better. My range of motion is excellent and my strength is slowly returning. The 1st couple weeks were pretty rough pain wise but now I am literally pain free. Dr. Shea is backed by an awesome team and I would highly recommend their practice if you are in need of surgery.Roger P

Amazing!
I had my 4th rotator cuff surgery on 8/11. This time it was a complete tear (same as my left in 2017). I had very little pain after the surgery. I listened to Dr Shea and my PT and made sure I did (or didn't do) everything they asked. After only 11 weeks I've been cleared to play pickleball already! My last three surgeries all took at least six months for full recovery. Although I'm not 100% yet, where I'm at after less than three months is incredible. I have no idea how he did it, but I couldn't be happier with the results.

Grateful for Dr Shea
Dr Shea is very understanding and anxious to understand what is going on from the patients perspective. He helped me make an important decision regarding my medical condition and I very much appreciated his perspective. I've had 5 joint replacements through UCONN. Because UCONN is a teaching hospital I was able to be part of a recent 5 year study surrounding my shoulder replacement. Drs care along with the entire medical staff have been outstanding. I am grateful for them all. I Because of all they have done I'm active, moving and pain free! I travel from the CT shore up to UCONN medical center to be under their care. I would not consider going anywhere else.

outstanding results
I am one year removed from a total left shoulder replacement performed by Dr. Shea at the UConn Musculoskeletal Institute and am compelled to document my excellent results. I had severe pain with extremely limited mobility before deciding to explore the surgery. Dr. Shea and his team guided me through the decision-making process to make sure the surgery was absolutely necessary and my best option. My experience along the way was outstanding. Today I am pain free and have the mobility I once had as a young man. I can't say enough about the skill and care I received. Of course, I did my part, diligently following orders and a strict therapy regimen, but I can't say enough about how grateful I am to the team for their expertise. Even my scar looks great!

Dr. Shea has been my doctor for many years. He has performed surgery on both my knees and shoulders. Each surgery has been fully successful as well as post surgery treatment. I found him to be entirely professional; he explains all procedures thourougly and establishes a positive repore with his patients. If I had any concerns he immediately put my mind at ease. He is a skilled surgeon and I completely trust hIm. I have recommended him to many friends and family members.

My experience at UCONN and with Dr. Shea was fantastic. We met and discussed the issue, the options, the recovery, and what comes along with the replacement. Everything shared was spot on and couldn't be happier........other than wishing I did the replacement years ago!

Ortho Visit-Rotator cuff arthrophy,impingment
I researched and met with Dr. Kevin Shea on Oct 26, 2022. We reviewed my MRI and we agreed PT, both arms, would be tried for 6 weeks. The doctor and I met again. My mobility increased significantly and we decided to opt for 4 more weeks of PT. I'm functioning at 85%-90% of my physical capabilities before my injuries. I will continue with home exercises to pursue even greater functionality. I was very pleased with Dr. Shea's approach to wellness and I would highly recommend him.
