I delivered my first baby with Dr. Sumsion in 2018, every appt during my third trimester included a pelvic exam that was painful and forceful, I’ve since realized this was hugely unnecessary for both the frequency and force. I didn’t feel like he ever listened to concerns. I was diagnosed with GB and though through diet changes my numbers were in target ranges he wanted to put me on insulin, I refused and was made to see an endocrinologist who confirmed my levels were healthy. He pushed for me to be induced because of my GB, told me my scheduled time was 3 hours before it was meaning I was early and the hospital wasn’t prepared for me. He showed up for birth over an hour after being paged, arrived after baby was crowning and then ‘helped’ baby out by stretching me so much I tore. I believe he gave me a ‘husband stitch’ so sex was painful for months after I’d healed. I would never trust him with my or my daughters care.

He was my OB for my first pregnancy. After vowing to never go back and going to my current OB I learned the pelvic and breast exams he did at literally every appointment were unnecessary and being a S/A survivor it makes my skin crawl to think about it. I also suspect he did the husband stitch based on how painful intercourse was after birth and on my current OB questioning of who stitched me up, but I have no way to prove it. He also pushed me to be induced even though I didn't want it and wouldn't even tell me why. He wouldn't answer any of my questions throughout the pregnancy and made me feel like I was either stupid or waisting his time for even asking. A lot of reviews have already touched on the poor time management which was another reason I never wanted to return. I don't know how he's still practicing with how untrustworthy and unethical he is. Hopefully this review will help other potential patients make an informed decision before making an appointment with him.

Dr. Sumsion did a great job making my 12 year old feel comfortable her first time visiting an obgyn. She was very nervous and anxious to be there and the way he greeted her when he walked through the door changed those feelings.

I love Dr. Sumsion. He’s very informative & very kind. Always thorough and takes my concerns seriously. He’s delivered both of my children & I hope to see him again when I’m ready for the third.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My wife went to see Dr. Sumsion in August 2018, and they billed us for hundreds of dollars of things that she specifically told him were not needed. We had not received a bill and she had a follow up appointment the next week where they billed, again, for the same things that were not supposed to be billed. Due to poor care from Dr. Sumsion, and lack of interest in his patients, my wife decided to go to a different doctor, and we were just going to pay the bill

Delivered my daughter 19 yrs ago. I loved him then; he gave all the time needed answering my questions. He was just as excited as I was when she was born. I rediscovered him again when I needed some help for my 14 year old. He is just as wonderful: listened to our complete story, asking questions along the way. Knows his stuff, talked to my DAUGHTER, not just to me, explained everything in a way we could both understand fully. Gave us 3 treatment options, pros & cons for all. HIGHLy recommend!

Best 1st impression, worst surgical experience- & I've had some doozies. At 1st consult for partial hysterectomy/bladder sling seemed a good listener/attentive, responsive. Post-op I woke before the morphine took hold, screaming in pain. The nurses tried to find him-he showed up 1.5 hours later & stood in the room watching me writhe in agony & decided I did not need more meds, ordered Benadryl, which did eventually help. Later issues re sling pain were minimized, & help for low libido refused.

HORRIBLE. we would get early appointments but he was ALWAYS AT LEAST 45 min. NO OTHER staff knows where he is during that time to make matters worse the nurses forgot to come back. My wife cried multiple times becasue when she stated she wanted a c-section due to history he said no, when she said she wanted a DELAYED cord clamping he said NO last time we were there she was complaining of pain in stomach and he said well he has a heart beat so he is alive and then left the room didnt return.
