He Saved My Life
In April 2022, I went to the ER at Whittier Hospital for intense back pain due to a recent slip and fall incident. Dr. Zeng ordered Xrays and routine bloodwork. Nothing unusual was found at that point, and I just wanted some painkillers for my back pain. At the last minute, Dr. Zeng ordered an abdominal CT Scan with contrast (ink). As I was about to get ready to leave, Dr. Zeng informed me that I had a mass on my left kidney, most likely renal cell carcinoma, or kidney cancer. I was shocked. Two months later, I had a partial nephrectomy surgery to have the mass removed, which was a success. While it was a great surgeon and his team that I have to thank for a successful surgery, it is Dr. Zeng that I owe the greatest thanks to. Because of Dr. Zeng's decision to order a CT Scan that night in the ER, the mass was found at stage 1 and was found relatively early. I can't imagine what might have happened if the cancer had not been found at that time. Thank you very much, Dr. Zeng.
