Been our children's pediatrician for twenty years
Our children have been patients of Dr. Smoak, over the last twenty years. We were referred to her by the OB and have been pleased with the care provided. One of our children had complications at birth and Dr. Smoak has always advocated and referred our child properly for the concerns. My only personal concern was during COVID and it seemed like all of the pediatricians were pushing the "COVID vaccine", including Dr. Smoak. Although the virus was particularly harmful to elderly, I feel that Dr. Smoak may have needed to study more available evidence, before following suit with other medical providers. I think that it's very important for all parents and medical providers to continue educating themselves and am grateful that we did not vaccinate our children (trust your gut). I think that Dr. Smoak gives a motherly touch and follows her instincts and connects well with our children. They always seem to feel comfortable with her.

We have enjoyed seeing Dr. Smoak for the last 5 years for two of our kids. I haven't had any issues with bedside manner, and honestly appreciate her approach to medicine. So many doctors have started prescribing for every little thing - after being pushed by pushy parents- even when it's not in the best interest of the child. We rarely have to wait and they are pretty thorough. The office is always clean and the staff always friendly. However their medical records department is the absolute worst. I think its run third party - through shared care as part of baycare and they are so inefficient. We have had to go in for requests because it was so hard to get something requested and sent out and this time when that wasn't an option, I have had to call and email multiple times. Would definitely not recommend their medical records.

I wouldn’t recommend any parent to see Dr.Smoak , she’s terrible. When my daughter was born , the first 2 weeks she had RSV, I was told to wait a couple of days to see if it would get better with no medication .. keep in mind my newborn wasn’t hospitalized .. I came back 3 days later when she lost weight , lost appetite because she couldn’t eat she was too busy choking ... then all she gave me was medicine & nebulizer & said it will take 6 weeks to see a difference .. mind you this is 2 week NEWBORN . Now my daughter is 7 months with a cold, she was seen immediately from dr.smoak she said to get over the counter stuff & she couldn’t help her.. 4 days later the mucus was getting worse & she end up getting conjunctivitis & was put on Zyrtec to stop the mucus from ANOTHER DR. because clearly the cold got worse.. I would not refer any parent to this doctor, Unless you want to get the push back to “wait it out” & go back in 4-5 days for the same issue that should’ve been taken care of.

Horrible bedside manner! Would not recommend this doctor, especially if you have teenage children. She talks down to the parents, and children. Very condescending!!

Dr. Smoak has been my children's pediatrician for almost 10 years. She is thorough, patient and kind. My children feel at ease asking her questions, and I am confident that she is knowledgeable and well-informed. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent provider. I am very sad that my older children are almost at the age where they will transition to non-pediatric doctors. We will miss Dr. Smoak!

Dr smoak is an amazing dr. She really listens to what I have to say regarding my children. I would not take my children to any other dr. I actually followed her from Brandon to Riverview. So worth the drive. She has cared for all 3 of my children. She is very thorough and my children love her.

A decent doctor but really lacking in bedside manner. Felt she needed to talk down to us at multiple visits about anything that did not meet with her approval. In fact, she asked our child a question and clearly did not agree with the answer. We explained the situation and she gave her blessing (but only in our situation). Next visit, she apparently forgot she gave her approval and was condescending again. I really could not recommend this doctor.

Horrible bedside manner! She has repeatedly talked down to me, specially when a lot of questions are asked. Sometimes a patient just needs reassurance; I like to recap discussions and apparently that doesn't please her. My son had what seemed like a bruise on his testicle, she said he pinched the skin. Two weeks later she starts by saying the tip of his penis looks the same color so It's normal. I looked puzzled, she spoke to another Dr. and came back with a book. And she expects me to be ok?

Dr. Smoak is a excellent pediatrician. She is not only very kind, caring, sincere and polite, but she truly cares about her patients and you can see it in her eyes when she is seeing your child. From our very first meet and greet with Dr. Smoak we immediately felt like we could TRUST her with our baby. Our baby is 3 months old now and we are having to find a new pediatrician unfortunately due to a certain situation and we will miss Dr. Smoak unimaginably she is the best of the best.
