Outstanding surgeon
Dr. Van Zee performed a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on me two weeks ago. One incision for both; No pain, swelling or anything at any point after the surgery (I used post-surgery preventive homeopathic medicine). Now back at the gym and running! She is an amazing surgeon!

Doctor (expertise + kindness) = patient confidence
I went to Dr Van Zee for a second opinion, expecting a perfunctory review of my records. Instead, we sat for 20 minutes going over all the details of my medical records and testing from the last six years - all reviewed by MSK doctors and other experts. I actually learned more about my situation from her than I knew from firsthand experience. She was so patient, ensuring I understood everything I was hearing. Even though I am 53 and in healthcare, I really needed the time to process everything. She used evidence to risk stratify my condition and treatment recommendation. She treated me with kindness and respect. We went as deep into the science as I asked, which increased my confidence in the much less invasive approach. She ordered an additional mammogram to ensure that I had the right plan going forward as well. And she shared information about the RISE program to ensure that I could fully leverage MSK's patient resources.

Superb.
There are not enough words to adequately express my deep devotion and gratitude to Dr. Kimberly Van Zee. I joke with her that I think she should wear a Super Hero cape. I was diagnosed with early breast cancer thanks in huge part to a brilliant radiologist and an ultrasound mammogram given the fact that I have dense breast tissue (my regular mammogram just months before was clear and unable to pick up what the ultrasound did). All women with dense breast tissue should know this and know their breast density. I have religiously each year had an ultrasound mammogram soon after my regular mammogram because I knew I had dense breasts and needed, each year, this additional screening. After my diagnosis, I needed to feel fully confident with my breast cancer surgeon. I needed the best and the best team for my peace of mind at a time when I felt very little control over so many other things. From the first moment I met Dr. Van Zee, I felt a massive burden lifted. She is SUPERB in every way.

Dr. Van Zee did my lumpectomy a couple of months ago. She has amazing bedside manners. She spent a lot of time with me pre-surgery, patiently explaining my options and the procedure itself. She is a very caring doctor and a great surgeon. My scar is almost unnoticeable, and the shape of the breast is unchanged thanks to her skills. I had an easy recovery from the operation. Thank you, Dr. Van Zee
