Dr.McCullough is a very knowledgeable and kind doctor who has tremendous communication and surgical skill. I have had surgery with Dr.McCullough in three different parts of my body and have had enormous success in all of them due to the skill and information Dr.McCullough provides. Dr.McCullough was recommended to me by a nurse who had surgery with him. I,in turn, have recommended Dr.McCullough to other people.

1-2 hours late routinely
This is not a reflection directly on the physician but his scheduler as well. If you have a doctor that is slower and notorious for getting behind schedule then make adjustments and schedule accordingly. This is not a difficult concept, in fact is very simple. This is something you have complete control over and from previous reviews it would appear that zero action has been taken to rectify the problem. Being over an hour or more behind is unacceptable, unprofessional, and quite frankly arrogant. Thinking that the physicians time is more valuable than the patients is not ok. Please adjust and schedule accordingly, it really is not that difficult.

Dr. McCullough performed a partial fusion of my right ankle. The procedure and recovery went just as he anticipated. I could not be more pleased. Very skilled and thorough. If you need ankle surgery, seek him out!

I previously have had a meniscus tear surgery and 2 ACL surgeries all on my left knee over the last 20 years from 3 different doctors and my knee was still weak but no one would do a replacement because they said I was too young. Then I went to see Dr McCullough and he agreed I needed a full knee replacement but before he could do it, I fell and broke my left knee cap. Dr McCullough did a fabulous job on my replacement after he got my kneecap fixed. The hospital was great too! I've been his patient now for almost 12 months and I would not go to another orthopedic surgeon. He is caring, compassionate and as far as scars go, mine is perfect. I Can't say enough about the man, the facility and their support staff. Absolutely Wonderful!

I was referred to Dr. McCullough by a podiatrist and others for chronic issues I was having with my Achilles tendon. I run and bike competitively and being able to run without holding back was my motivation to see a specialist. McCullough explained his experience doing the surgery he envisioned helping my case with other athletes. The procedure involved removing a haglunds deformity and repairing a partially torn Achilles. I'm about 6 months post surgery and things are going very well. I've been able to return to running and am slowly building back strength. Do your research on McCullough and you will find he has vast amounts of experience with the foot + ankle and working with athletes. While some here complain about wait time, just bring a book and prepare questions. It's worth it. You can tell he takes his time with each patient and remembers small details. He was very good at explaining the technical aspects of the surgery and recovery. I'm very grateful for his expertise.

He performed a 4 hour foot surgery on our daughter after another surgeon in KC did a terrible job. Dr. McCullough was amazing and knew exactly what was the problem. He fixed issue another surgeon did not fix right and then fixed the major problem that was missed by previous surgeon! We’d send all of our family of 7 to him and recommend all our friends and co-workers! Job well done!!!

My son experienced a foot injury that required surgery to remove a detached bone as well as significant structural repair. Although this could have been a major set back in his high school career, Dr. McCullough and his staff walked us through the entire process and the experience was flawless. Within one year of surgery, my son was fully recovered and earned Kansas all-state honors in football.

Great experience from the first day I walked into the Dr. office to the last day I was there for my final exam. Everyone was very helpful and sympathetic to my problem. Dr. McCullough explained every step of the process and if I followed the directions I would get back to were I was. And I did. One of the most important features of this location is that everything was in one place, the Dr. office and surgical suite right there onsite. Very convenient parking.

I was diagnosed with posterior tibial tendonitis in my foot a couple years back. Nonsurgical treatments weren't helping and I was at my wits end trying to find the right doctor. I had gone to multiple (local) surgeons/specialists in the area and none of them took the time with me like Dr. McCullough. At other offices I felt rushed and out the door within 10 minutes. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. McCullough's ability to listen and be receptive to what the patient is saying. He did an awesome job performing my surgery. It was a tendon repair and shaving down of the navicular bone. He was supportive throughout the entire recovery process. His staff is wonderful. Overall: highly professional, advocates for his patients, sound judgement, and caring!

I had a complete Achilles rupture, and Doc McCullough performed the mini-open repair that's currently the preferred technique of choice for athletes. I'm 5 months post-op, and I just started running again, and well on my way to being very close to "back to normal". His office was always responsive throughout the rehab process in the many questions I would have that would come up day to day, and Doc McCullough was great at teaching and demonstrating what he would be doing, and how the recovery would work. If I ever require orthopedic care again, Doc McCullough will be the one I'm going to call.

I was an SEC Champion, I was a National Champion, I was an elite level collegiate athlete... and then I had a career ending injury... After I broke my foot, i went all around the country looking for the most qualified doctors. I was living in Texas at the time. The university surgeon was sure that he could fix the problem. However, I was not convinced that he could handle this. (having seen another team mates career end after this same surgery). We searched and asked everybody we knew for recommendations and somehow we found our way back up to Kansas City. The team and I shopped around looking for doctors and then I met Dr. McCullough. He was SO MUCH BETTER compared to every other surgeon we had met (I had traveled to Texas, Oklahoma City & Finally Kansas City). He changed the game. He we enthusiastic, a total "go getter", and he made me excited to have the surgery. Not to mention, he too was a college athlete and understood what was going through my psyche as an athlete. I tore my left distal bicep at work and was referred to Dr. McCullough by a friend. It was my first major injury and both my work and lifestyle were heavily impacted by the injury. From the moment I first met Dr. McCullough, I felt at ease and encouraged by the road ahead. He seemed genuinely concerned about my situation and assured me that things would get back to normal after surgery and PT (if I put in the work). 12 Months later I feel like I am in the best shape of my life. The initial diagnosis and uncertainty a major surgery provides can be very scary. Dr. McCullough and his entire staff were helpful, encouraging, professional and top-notch. The surgery was excellent and recovery began immediately and I would be confident in referring anyone to Dr. McCullough for their needs. I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Dr. McCullough and the team at the Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic of Kansas City.

I can't thank Dr McCullough enough for repairing my ankle. My original injury was from a previous work injury years ago and the surgeon at the time didn't do a very good job of repairing & stabilizing my fractured ankle. As a former athlete I wasn't at the time able to do the sport I loved. I had a lot of damage at the time to my bones, tendons and nerves. I am now 4 months post-op and I don't have the constant pain, numbness, muscle spasms and my ankle doesn't roll any more when walking. I finally am able to return to my sport and walk without pain or numbness. Dr McCullough's knowledge and his constant drive to further ways to help patients & athletes understand, prevent & recover from an injury is outstanding. My only wish is that he would have been my first surgeon.

I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Kirk McCullough and his staff for how they treated my arthritic ankle. It was so painful that I had difficulty walking even short distances. For an active 75-year-old (run, hike, bike, golf), something had to be done. I consulted two KC ankle specialists. One suggested replacement, the other (McCullough) fusion. I selected McCullough because his approach was more conservative, which appealed to someone who is a risk manager. Also, the physical therapists and members of the medical community I know gave McCullough an A+ rating. His assessment of my range of ankle motion suggested that even after surgery, I would not notice much difference in how I walk or ride a bike. His assessment was right on target. Today, five months post fusion surgery, I ride my bike and play golf without pain. McCullough’s staff were also exceptional, from the nurses and x-ray technicians to the assistants who fitted me with boots and braces. This team gets my highest reco

I highly recommend Dr. McCullough. I was referred to him by an ankle care clinic, since I had a complete tear of my right Achilles with complications. This was my first major injury, and I could tell that Dr. McCullough genuinely cared about helping me recover, and his confident manner and expert knowledge throughout the entire process put me at ease. He is an extremely skilled surgeon, and I am very thankful for everything he's done for me throughout my surgery and recovery.

Dr McCullough recently repaired my torn Achilles’ tendon and I can only compliment him on his success not only in his surgical skills but his very professional assessment of my injury and his time spent discussing options available to me. While my age (80) concerned him initially my active life style helped convince him that surgery would be my best option. Today at 3 1/2 months since surgery he declared my Achilles’ tendon healed.

Super Nice, Genuinely Kind/Caring and doesnt try to rush you out in a nanosecond. Also good Dr. I have a sports injury where I had 2 surgeries to my knee prior to meeting Dr. McCullough. The meniscus is gone so much that it is now bone on bone contact. Dr. McCullough has worked with me through brace for sports/walking, injections for fluid between bones and foot prosthetics to allow me to delay surgery so that I can continue to be a Home Inspector able to crawl under homes.
