Dr. didn't perform an examination
Ms.Alves didn't acknowledge my daughter, ask her questions about herself, or show interest in her as a person. She continually referred to her congenital disorder as a deformity and resisted elaborating on what she constituted as 'bad'. She never did exam her, only read her x-ray. I took my daughter and got a 2nd opinion. The new doctor tested her gait, checked her range of motion, and x-rayed her. The findings were opposite of Ms. Alves and she was treated with kindness and dignity. Ms. Alves was not kind, empathetic, or personable. Sad to say this encounter felt personal and preconceived. My daughter is 14 and asked for me to post a review to prevent other children from experiencing the same treatment.

The best!!!
I will sing Dr. Alves praises to anyone who will listen! We also had an amazing experience with her team. They helped my daughter avoid surgery in a bad arm break! Each visit we were greeted kindly and always felt so taken care of. Each of the team members working there has wonderful emotional intelligence in dealing with kids and adults. My daughter loved Dr Alves and saw her as a smart, capable, kind woman who is using her knowledge and power for good! Thank you to the entire team working with Dr Alves and big thanks to her as well!

personalized care and expertise
From day one Kristin treated our son with the upmost respect and personalized care. We trust her skill and expertise without any reservation. She and her phenomenal team have treated my son and us with compassion at all times throughout the multi month recovery he has had. We couldn't have asked for a better care team to navigate a particularly stressful and scary time.

All around wonderful experience
Our daughter broke her arm and Dr. Alves treated her with casts and no surgery was needed. She was accommodating to our requests around our travel and responsive to our questions that we forgot to ask in the office. Her assistant who helped place her cast was incredibly kind and the entire visit was so quick and painless!

Her personality and how she connected with my son was amazing. She always spoke to him directly and ask his thoughts & opinions on what she was doing and made sure to answer all his question & my questions if we had any. She made him as well as myself feel like we were more than just a patient and that means a lot when your child is hurt. He always looked forward to his appointments with her and she did an amazing job on all the surgeries. I would recommend her to any parent that needs ortho care for pediatrics.

Highly Recommend
My son has seen numerous pediatric orthopedic specialists from Columbia Presbyterian in NY to Duke University. It wasn't until we switched to Dr. Alves that my son received quality care. She is attentive to our concerns, comprehensive in her evaluations, and takes the time to speak with my son's physical therapist to collaborate in his care. We will not see anyone else, and we are grateful to have found Dr. Alves.

Dr. Alves is amazing!
My daughter was born with a right clubfoot. While this diagnosis was really scary as first time parents, we feel so lucky to have found Dr. Alves! We started the casting process within 2 weeks of her being born. Dr. Alves and her MA, Katlyn, were amazing. They talked us through the casting process at each visit and answered our questions thoroughly. Our daughter had a great outcome with treatment and has reached all of her milestones without any issue. We are so thankful for Dr. Alves and her team!

Can I leave a zero?
My son hurt his ankle. We went to Wake Ortho and went to the website first to see their Covid requirements. The website said clearly at the top - "Masks are requested for Patients". Requested NOT required! The front desk was nice enough until we declined to wear a mask. We went back and forth and explained what their own website said. They said it was up to the provider and she said we must wear them. Dr. Alves came in and had pretty awful bedside manner and she wasn't the least bit friendly or warm to my son. She was even less friendly after I questioned if we could wait on an X-ray. She brushed off my concerns and her attitude was a total turn off. Her tech, Christine, however, was wonderful and kind and talked me through waiting on an X-ray and fitted him for a boot to wait and see. Just wanted to share my experience because I was disappointed and angry when we left. Pretty poor example of a "Pediatric" doctor, in my opinion.

Dr. Alves is a fantastic doctor. She clearly explained treatment options to me and my 12 year old daughter. On surgery day she made sure all our questions were answered. Post surgery she showed us x-rays taken at different points through the procedure and gave us clear instructions for aftercare. She's friendly and put my daughter at ease through the entire process. Highly recommend her for pediatric orthopedic needs!

Our daughter was born with a severely crooked big toe and wasn’t getting any better as she was growing. We took her to see Dr. Alves and immediately she knew what was wrong and how it needed to be fixed. She was very thorough in explaining everything to us and we get so comfortable putting our toddler into her hands. Overall she made it such an easy experience and would highly recommend her to anyone.
