Awful experience! Shocked still a doctor!
Dr. Kos was terribly rude to my mother & I. As others stated, she was very condescending & rude, always cut us off & wouldn’t allow us to answer and literally kept raising her voice at us. Although she is NOT an MS specialist, she told me I didn’t have MS, should stop taking my DMD, rather I was just depressed, although I have 10 out of 10 OG bands in my spinal taps & MRI’s that clearly show MS lesions! This hurt my medical care for years as it followed me after my 1 appointment with her, which was NOT for a second opinion. I did bring this to the board at Mercy & they seemed to be taking it seriously, however, I see she is STILL practicing at their department after my complaint & many complaints by other patients who were told the same exact thing & treated so disrespectful! Thankfully I switched to MO Bap & saw Dr. Singer who is quite established, who said there is no possible way that I have been misdiagnosed with MS! Interesting to see her 5 star ratings on Mercy’s website! Wow!

Upset MS Patient! – Jun 17, 2024

Good doctor, awful staff
After treatment (referral to someone else) I requested medical records (MRI's, nerve conduction studies, etc) that I supplied be returned to me. I had given them all to Dr Kos directly, per her request. Fourteen phone calls later (14!) with each one promising a return call with info, I was told TODAY that the records were mailed 3 weeks ago, and, oops, sorry, we have no way to trace them. Ooops. That's bad enough, why I had to call that many times to get that answer is ridiculous. Also left 4 messages for Dr Kos herself, with no reply to date. I wanted to discuss the specialist she sent me to, who is actually helping with the problem. But I'll not be going back.

She dismissed me. Upset when I left a disappointing message. Very unprofessional. Was told by staff that a certified would be sent. No letter arrived.

Dr. Kos did not seem to care about my migraine and memory issues at all. She constantly cut me off and dismissed my issue in the middle of my explaining my symptoms. One time she didn’t even give me time to respond to her question! I will never go back to her ever! She should not be a doctor in my opinion.

Rude and dismissive. She told me no, don't tell me your diagnosis, tell me your symptoms... then cut me off in the middle of my explanation. Didn't offer any explanation of the testing. If I could refuse payment I would. I don't pay so much to be treated rudely. I didn't care that she kept me waiting for so long just her awful bedside manner and lack of respect. If you have any other choice of doctor go elsewhere!

Dr. Kos was fine at first, but then she began questioning my wife's diagnosis of seronegative myasthenia gravis. It is important to note here that we were not there for a second opinion. We were there at the recommendation of another Mercy neurologist who was concerned, that should my wife need plasmapheresis, we would need a neurologist at Mercy in St Louis to order this. Instead what we got was a condescending attitude with complete disregard to her already established diagnosis.

Dr Kos is by far the most knowledgeable Neurologist I've seen throughout my life. Having had Ocular Migraines for over 50 years and seeing several Neurologist , she was diligent in diagnosing my condition. She is willing to include other specialists to resolve the bizarre symptoms that this condition can present. Thank you Dr Kos!

Dr Kos evaluated several symptoms I was experiencing pertaining to leg mobility. Her preliminary diagnosis, without full testing, included a comprehensive summary of possible causes for my symptoms. I perceived her approach as one of compassionately preparing me for a serious diagnosis. Once she personally completed full testing she carefully but candidly informed me her diagnosis was ALS. My family and I were most impressed with her professionalism and compassion.

She was very knowledgeable about facial pain syndromes which I suffer from (occipital neuralgia, atypical face pain, trigeminal neuralgia and myofascial pain). She also took out a lot of time to thoroughly discuss my facial pain fully and gave me hope of getting better!!!

She performed a test at Mercy. I understand that my reaction was rare but there was no need for her to be rude or try to get me out of the office when the pain was so bad I wasn't breathing. Since I wasn't responding to her, she asked my friend to help. Between my friend and the nurse, they got me into a wheelchair and I was left in my friends care while dizzy and disoriented. I recommend going elsewhere if you want a doctor who listens and isn't in a rush to get to the next patient.
