My endocrinologist for over 10 years
Didn’t care for the endos in my PCP's practice, so I asked for a recommendation for an endo with a conservative approach. Have been with Dr. Kaul for over 10 years! I’m surprised at some of the other reviews. Yes, there can sometimes be a wait before an appointment. (Have you noticed that his office waiting area is usually full?) Yes, he can seem rude. (Have you been following his recommendations, taking your Rx’s, watching your weight?) He cares deeply for his patients. Only once have I disagreed with him. He just shook his head, we tried a different med, and now we have an understanding….My appointments are every 3 months and I make the next one before I leave his office. Only once have I asked to change an appointment when I encountered a conflict. The front desk quickly gave me an earlier appointment. Yes, when they don’t return my calls, but I keep calling until I get through to a live person.Yes, he’s not for everyone, but I think he’s the best...

3 Weeks trying to get an appointment
My doctor referred me here. He sent my referral 3 times and I sent it myself. Every time I call they cannot find anything! I have had it and would never go to a place that is so unprofessional. I have no idea how they stay in business.

Horrible Staff
I’ve been trying to get an appointment for my 3 month follow up appointment for weeks. I finally got a person on the phone, and she was very rude. I explained to her that I was out of my hyperthyroid medication and heart medication. She stated that she was sorry, and the first appointment she could give me is next week. My first 3 encounters with everyone from this office were horrendous, and he told me each time I saw him (no longer than a minute) to take what he prescribed, and if it doesn’t work we can try something else. I’ve been to the emergency room and admitted twice since then due to tachycardia tied to my thyroids and severe headaches. The headaches are not as bad or as often as long as I take the thyroid medication, but I can’t get a refill because the person answering the phone said they don’t have a record of my charts. The PAs are worse and rude.

Terrible
Why is this Doctor in practice? He didnt pay attention to what I told him, he wrote a prescription but when the insurance company requested documentation and a phone meeting, he nor his staff would return phone calls, they would not follow up, nobody in the office would answer the phone for months, no phone messages can be left for his nurse or staff, NO RESPONSE WHATSOEVER, you cannot communicate with his office. My prescription was never filled and I had to see another doctor. Seeing Dr Kaul was a complete waste of time and money.

I read through a lot of the reviews about Dr. Kaul, and for the most part they are quite right. He's hard on you. He expects you to listen to him instead of ignoring what he's asking you to do. He will find some things right, but mostly find things that are wrong. And this is exactly what diabetics need. You need the truth, not some candy-coated, passive treatment. I've seen him since I was diagnosed at 17, and I'm 44 now and cringe to think he's going to retire at some point. I've never had an A1c above 8 in that time and guarantee you its because of this man. If you don't think he cares, you're wrong. You want to know why he's late to his own appointments? Because he's at the hospitals taking care of people there. You don't like his staff because they didn't use the right tone of voice? So what. You think he's hard on you, what do you think they go through? He has high standards and expectations regarding your health. Maybe you should too. If you don't, move on

My first visit with doctor Kaul was in 2003 I was suffering from hyperthyroidism. I had seen a few doctors before doctor Kaul but doctor Kaul is the only doctor that made me feel at ease to finally turn the problem over to him instead of me trying to over think the problem and let doctor Kaul take the lead. So I listened to doctor Kaul and overtime I was all better and ready to turn over to regular life. Good job doctor Kaul. You have helped me more than you know over the years. God Bless Darcy Loerch

It has been many years since my experience with Dr. Kaul. I can say he chewed me up and down understandable. My Hashimotos was way out of whack. There is no bedside manner sort of speak and there is no empathy. However, he has passion. I can understand his rating, but he can and will heal if you follow and understand. He did for me and I didn't follow, but he is a good doctor. You just can't expect to see open empathy. That's my review. As far as staff.. it's been a very long time, but I didn't experience them being rude.

Appointment was at 315 on May 12 during covid 19 epidemic. I got screened entering the building. I got to appointment and there were 5 people in waiting room. Upon checking in I asked receptionist if Kaul was even there yet and she said no. I asked if they were going to fill up the waiting room which he has done in the past. She said it looks like it. There is no social spacing as chairs are touching each other. I said to cancel my appointment and don't try to charge no show fee because I was here. In fact you owe me a no show fee because he isn't here. This is third time that I have had an appointment and he is not there. Then he spends about 3 minutes with you and herds everyone through like cattle. I fired him today. That is ridiculous to fill the waiting room during this time where I cant go out and eat at a restaurant sitting that close to anyone.

Staff is completely rude and unprofessional. I called for a refill, as a diabetic very important to have meds especially with everything that is going on right now and they denied the request unless I come into the office. We are out of town away where there are not many cases of the corona and when i explained that, the nurse raised her voice at me and talked over me to tell me that I needed to be seen. And hung up on me. All other appointments have not been very satisfying either, he asks about three questions and then writes the prescription. An hour in the waiting room and three minutes in the exam room. Answers you like you’re stupid when you ask any questions. If you want quality healthcare, DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. They just want your copay.

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Kaul, the staff does not communicate well to the Doctor. But Dr. Kaul is spot on! Endocrinologists are hard to find and we have to travel from Galveston. It is worth it to try to get past the staff to see him! He is definitely a 5 star professional doctor!

Staff is rude . I needed to get blood work done . I was told the total of my visit and blood work . I told her I only had enough for my visit . She responded "You either get your blood work or you don't " That is NOT how someone should talk to a patient . I never did ANYTHING . Another girl that works there just sits there doing nothing . How much does the doctor pay them ? How do they get paid ? Never I would recommend this doctor to ANYONE .

The unfavorable reviews are mostly correct, Dr Kaul does not have the best bedside manor. I do not go to doctors to be their buddy or to be coddled. If he is abrupt at least he tells it like it is. For me the most important thing is that he knows what he is talking about. Dr Kaul is an expert. If you want to be treated with kid gloves, he is not for you you. If you want the truth and expert care he will give you that.

At my husbands last doctor appointment, dr Kayla was distracted and didn't listen. I called the office today reporting problems with sugar levels and the nurses answer on the phone was, I'm just a nurse. Not offering to get a message to the doctors. She didn't ask specifics to guide us. Useless.

He is very rude and always rushes his appointments. Takes literally a minute for the whole appointment to be done and just writes prescriptions and that's literally all he does. He doesn't like when patients question their conditions and then begins to be rude. Do not make an appointment here!

Dr. Kaul was my choice after seeing two other endocrinologists in the area. I found him very helpful in explaining my condition in terms that I could understand. His experience was unsurpassed regarding the number of patients he had treated with the same condition. When I had a question, he responded quickly over the phone. His office was efficient and helpful. I would definitely recommend him.
