Excellent Psychiatrist
Dr Shea has been my doctor for many years. She is kind, considerate, listens well and offers top notch medical advice. She takes the time needed to help me and I appreciate her demeanor.

Excellent care since 2007
Dr Shea is an amazing, caring Dr. She has worked very hard with me since 2007 to get me on the right cocktail of medications to treat my bipolar 1, severe anxiety, depression and agoraphobia. I started with her inpatient at Memorial Psych ward. I was in very, very bad shape when she started with me. Since then I’ve had a lot of medication changes and a partial hospitalization at Memorial Behavioral Health. Dr Shea is always there when I need her. She even accommodated a telehealth visit when I wasn’t feeling well enough to come in to her office to see me. Without the great care of Dr Shea, I don’t know that I would be here today. I am appalled at all of these negative reviews about her. She’s truly an amazing Dr.

Don't visit if deathly depressed.
I went in for an appointment today at 2:00 PM (if you're reading this you should remember me from my very angry demeanor as I was leaving), I am bi-polar type-2, I have been diagnosed by a different location in Springfield, she ignored it. She wrote it off as stress and a personality disorder, also stated that the genetic test for medication I had taken was "inaccurate". Blamed substance abuse for the rest of the problems. When I was asked about rehab and responded she had stated "that's illogical", 0/10 would NOT recommend even to my worst enemies. Very unprofessional if not even a bit rude/hostile. I left more suicidal than when I went in.

Dr Shea oversaw my ECT, and I react badly to anesthesia. I’d wake up after 6 hours with a crushing headache and usually vomit. My advocate told me of the treatment from which I awoke terrified and hit Dr Shea before passing out for several hours. In retaliation, she moved me to psychiatric ICU on a Friday (so no move back in til Monday), saying “Let’s see if she ever does that again.” I saw her over 20 years ago, and I give her 1 star for consistency: she’s venomous and wields her authority for punitive, personal, measures. Dr. Shea embodies the characteristics that prevent people from ever seeking psychiatric care after a really bad experience. I’d be interested in the suicide rate of patients who’ve been in contact with this non-healer.

Is it possible to give negative stars? The woman needs a psychiatrist. She metes out nastiness like candy at Halloween. She berates, is flippant about serious issues, and has the demeanour of a poisonous shrew. If I was shot in front of her office, and she was the only physician within 100 miles, I'd ask to be dragged across the street to die in peace. "Dr." Shea, and I use the term in the loosest possible sense, should have her board certification immediately revoked, and her license fed through a paper shredder. In addition to shoving her backhanded pious nonsense, and right wing politics down everyone's throat, she makes grand prognostications based on little more than a '70s "Cosmo" test. She should go back to chicken farming and bee keeping with her husband, and stay out of people's healthcare. Totally incompetent and vicious. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I wouldn't recommend her to anyone My husband went to her She didn't know how to address a problem he had She keep telling me that he was depression and because he has other issue about his health , he would not he showing any affection to me I remember a true counselor would say everyone has feelings they have a heart No excuse about your feeling I guess when his son die he cry and when his mom will pass soon He wont show his feeling? Good to Know? If she would live in my house She wouldn't have judge me I All His friends have left him and he push and crticize me Kids don't even come to see us nor the grandkids and this was why before his health issues So I guess I must take all driving away from him and his decision with money is kinda what the counselor applied Because she explain how bad he is I am blessed to have a great support system

A nightmare. I had to ask her what kind of depression I had, I guess she didn't think it was my business to know, Maybe it was for the best..she did misdiagnose me, threw every drug under the kitchen sink at me. A new Dr looked over what I had been prescribed and said she must have been a student, flunking, My daughter often made apt's for me, because she had more flexible time, Shea said I needed to make the apt because she did not want to be part of the enabling. Oversteps her bounds. Stupid

Dr. Shea is very arrogant and rude. She seems to think that raising her voice, interrupting, or just being generally disrespectful gives her point of view additional merit. Usually when one interrupts another, or elevates their voice it's due to an inability communicate effectively and a lack of understanding. I found her mannerisms to be innate or second nature. Let her know her conduct is unacceptable by any means necessary!! See another Dr.
