Wonderful, Caring Pediatrician
The first weeks and months of having a baby—especially your first—can be overwhelming, with every hiccup (literal and figurative) sparking panic, all while the birthing parent works to heal and rediscover themselves. In rare cases, a doctor goes beyond answering medical questions to become a true guide and source of comfort. For us, Dr. Boehm was that person. Her care not only for our baby but for us—especially the mother—was life-changing.Dr. Boehm’s dedication to her patients, her ability to address every question and concern, and her empathy for the challenges of modern parenting are extraordinary. She gave us the reassurance we needed during one of the most vulnerable times of our lives. We feel so lucky to have found Dr. Boehm and cannot thank her enough for the incredible impact she had on our family.

Goes the extra mile
We've found Dr. Boehm to be really patient and responsive to our questions and concerns. She has a personable, friendly manner that puts us at ease and makes me feel comfortable bringing up even questions I think might sound silly. She investigates every concern and is good at following up.

Very strange manner
Telehealth
I have spoken with Dr. Boehm twice over the phone and both times have been memorably bizarre. The first was when my son with young and had very small wake windows for his age, I called PA. I said he seemed lethargic to Dr. Boehm and she laughed and corrected me, I surely don’t mean lethargic because that’s a clinical term. I said I’m not a clinician. I did not walk away with a clear understanding of the situation, only that semantics are important to her. The second time was very recently. I had trouble explaining the injury that my son had sustained because she kept interrupting and laughing. “Wait I thought you said ___” I felt like I was talking to a little girl. She could not listen, ask appropriate questions, and respond to honest medical questions. It is one thing to have a poor bedside manner, but it is another to have patients walk away with a muddled understanding due to an erratic clinician. Bad doctor and strange person.

Wonderful Pediatrician!
When we first had our son, we were planning to go to a different pediatrician, but Dr. Boehm did his first check up at the hospital and was so wonderful we switched to Pediatric Associates of NYC. She is thoughtful, understanding and knowledgeable. As a new parent, I found her to be so supportive and encouraging and always available for questions and concerns. Cannot recommend her enough!

The stereotype of the arrogant doctor examplified
I have been going to Pediatrics Associates since May 2002, when my first child was born. I continued when my second was born. We have seen Dr. Putter, Dr. Oppenheimer, Dr. DiMaggio, and Dr. Horwitz for at least 20 years with no complaints. My children know no other doctors. Today we saw Dr. Boehm for the first time, which was memorable enough to warrant this review. She saw my minor child without me being present. The nurse came out of the consulting room and told me the visit was done, and the doctor wanted some tests. I asked why I was not asked to step in at one point during the visit and was told I could talk to the doctor then. Dr. Boehm rushed into the room. Made no eye contact, started talking, and would not listen at any point. She was focused on demonstrating her knowledge and perceived superiority and just talked through the visit. When I tried to explain anything to her, she dismissively moved to another topic. I do not recommend this doctor.

We’re huge fans of Dr. Boehm! She is unfailingly patient, personally warm, and scientific in approach, and has helped our family through some low-key stressful stuff. She’s the best. She has an obvious rapport with our son, and has undoubtedly helped us be better parents. We take up all her recommendations, which pretty much always turn out to be good ones, and feel totally confident in the care she provides our kidlet. We always look forward to seeing her.

Dr. Boehm is an extraordinary doctor. The perfect mix of patience, encyclopedic expertise, laid-back non-alarmist sensibility, and fun. She’s seen us through the everyday colds all the way through emergencies requiring surgery and has always gone the extra mile to touch base, put to rest any fears, and shows genuine affection for my boys. As my son said “well, I didn’t like the shots but I liked that she had a pretty necklace” which is about as solid of a review from a 4year old that you’ll get.

We chose Dr. Boehm as our daughter’s primary doctor after meeting with many members of the fantastic staff at Pediatric Associates of NYC. She is wonderful with our baby and has taken care to notice and remember details about her and her growth through the months we’ve been visiting. Also importantly, she listens to all of our concerns as new parents and provides encouragement and reassurance when needed. She has scheduled follow up appointments when we’ve been concerned and also has been kind enough to answer our questions outside of our scheduled visits. We've recommended her to many friends with new babies.

Dr.Boehm was FANTASTIC! She was knowledgeable, kind, great with my infant and, an excellent communicator. During my sick visit with Dr.Boehm, she explained very clearly what was going on and why. She also really took the time with us to address our other concerns with our son, and talked to us about what to expect next, something I feel like no other pediatrician I had previously seen had taken the time to do. We are ecstatic to have found her! Thanks Dr.Boehm!

We found Dr. Boehm to be very thorough. She engaged my kids right away and they were very comfortable with her. All 3 were due for shots at the visit and no tears. That’s a first!

Boehm is rude and condescending. A typical visit begins with Hi, I'm Dr. XYZ, what brings you here today? Her: Hi, I'm Dr. Boehm and I believe in science- launches into a 5 minute rant about vaccines. Knowing absolutely nothing about us. My toddler is sitting in his underwear, with stomach pains, waiting to be treated. Her rant went on for so long I got over my shock and asked are you going to treat him today? She was more concerned about getting vaccines prepared than looking at him. When he asked for water and I said I'll get you some, she reacted angrily with WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GET GO IT?! Reception was immediately outside the room we were in. The worst part of our visit was how poorly she administered shots. She freaked after he cried from the first shot and said she needed security to restrain him. All he did was cry! Security? I said no I will hold my child. I spoke to PA after and the practice said she is more inexperienced than they normally hire. Horrible visit.

Felt compelled to write something seeing the negative review here -- I had the direct opposite experience. We are new to the area and with so much change happening in our tot's life I was so glad when Dr. Boehm walked into the room and immediately set everyone at ease. She's very gifted with kids -- she even took the time for a full exam of my son's 'heart puppy' which he'd brought along for the visit. Everything went so smoothly, and that hasn't generally been the case with us and shot days. Dr. Boehm gave our son a chance to mentally prepare for it and then administered the shot so smoothly and quickly he hardly noticed. Anyway, I walked away feeling very good about our choice of Dr. and about my son's behavior at the clinic. The eczema treatments she recommended have also worked marvelously.
