Open letter to Dr Bassin
Dr Bassin…do you have empathy? Do you feel any concern for your patients? Or are we just transactional relationships to you?You don’t truly know me, and I don’t really know you. But I’ve been your patient ever since you joined the current practice in Rockville—a long time now. Over those years, I placed my trust in you, expecting more than a perfunctory “Hi, I’m Dr. Bassin” followed by a handshake and a polite dismissal: “Call me if you’re in serious pain.”I’ve come to your office repeatedly with stomach and intestinal issues, hoping for help. But I was brushed off. I never made it past your PA, who examined me and never inquired about my family history—whether anyone had colon or pancreatic cancer. My father had the former; my mother, the latter. These are critical questions you or your PA didn’t ask.And now, after everything, your response to my condition is simply, “I hope the biopsy leads you to a diagnosis and treatment.” Really? That’s it?What about: “I’m so sorry to hear t

I have seen Dr. Bassin in the past upon recommendation of my oncologist. I found him to be compassionate and competent. He spent time with me in learning about my medical history and my concerns. He performed the appropriate tests and followup. I have recommended him to friends and will see him again.

After seeing 3 different doctors and failing to help me, someone recommend Dr. Lawrence Bassin. He has been my gastroenterologist for over 2 years. He never rushes me, answers all my questions and makes sure he understands my concerns. He provides useful tips and resources so patients can be active participants in improving their health. He is compassionate and sympathetic to other conditions that do not relate to his practice. He is one of the few doctors that will follow up with a phone

Dr. Bassin recommended to have some tests done. There was an issue in one of the test reports that needed to be discussed, and I called his office to express my disappointment that I had not been contacted by anyone. Dr. Bassin finally contacted me; he was obviously upset; and indicated that I didn't need to see him again unless I had a problem. However, he mentioned that if I needed to talk to him, I could call - he had a patronizing attitude Will not go back.
