Dr. Lee Katzman, MD

After my cataract surgery with Dr. Katzman, he used a laser to clean off the film on the cataract the other doctor put in moving my vision from twenty fifty in that eye to twenty twenty five.. What a difference. Courtney, who works in the front office took a lot of time to explain something I did not understand about my eye exam and final prescription for both distance and reading. I had purchased a reading lens that I did not need and she immediately refunded me for that and helped me get the correct lens. I now understand what all the numbers on my prescription boxes mean. She is so so patient with the patient. Most front office people do not really understand what the doctor and the optometrist do so they can not explain it, but she is different. She has knowledge of what the treatments are and is willing to take the time to explain them. Overall top quality experience.

I have severe dry eye and Dr Katzman is very gentle in his care and explains everything thoroughly. I am 88 yrs old and he is very patient in his care and makes sure I understand what i need to do. Would definitely recommend him.

l changed my insurance from Scripps to Sharp just so I could have Dr. Katzman do the cataract surgery I needed, as he came highly recommended. Complicating factors included a retinal detachment in that eye the year prior, my astigmatism, and the fact that I’d had laser surgery over two decades ago. Nonetheless, Dr. Katzman performed a miracle. Within hours of my surgery, I could see clearly. There was never any pain, nor any evidence of a surgery, just the resulting miracle of perfect vision in an eye that had been problematic for nearly two years. I can’t recommend Dr. Katzman highly enough. Not only is he an ocular genius, he has a great manner. I fully intended to switch back to Scripps after the surgery, but my entire Sharp experience has been so amazing that I’m staying. Everyone – from my primary care physician, to billing, to x-ray, to podiatry – has been wonderful. I didn’t know what I was missing.

I have just completed my cataract surgeries by Dr. Katzman. Dr. Katzman is the most conscientious, considerate, confident and experienced in his field! My own experience was absolutely the best, A-plus and 100 plus out of 100!! From the first appointment to the latest, I was put at ease by the office staff and the other associates immediately. Also Dr. Katzman's crew involved with the surgery were excellent!!

stoplights! The day after each surgery I had 20/20 vision. Surgeries lasted less than 15 minutes. No glasses required for any distance. I would highly recommend Dr. Katzman. He and his staff at the Alvarado Eye Institute in La Mesa are very friendly and knowledgeable.

I had 2 cataracts. I did not want laser and needed a pair of miracle hands to intervene. I found Dr Katzman and there was instant trust. Very sharp and personable. The results are what really matter and they were PERFECT. The hands WERE a miracle as I came out of both eye surgeries with 20/20...he had also eliminated the Astigmatism! What a wonderful gift since prior to surgery I was almost legally blind. Forever grateful to this caring highly skilled man.

I highly recommend Dr. Katzman if you are considering having cataract or correction surgery. He is absolutely the best! I was a little nervous during the surgery, but he talked me through the entire procedure. It helped me relax, listening to him explain exactly what he was doing. Dr. Katzman is truly a unique doctor given his surgical skills as well as diligence in researching complicated patient cases (as mine was). Dr. Katzman alleviated my twenty plus year dependence on glasses and contact lenses through a refractive lens exchange surgery and the outcome has been life changing!
