Unimpressive Doctor
This doctor basically came into the room during our first meeting, didn’t ask me any questions, care to find out anything about me and basically dismissed me. He gave a well worn speech about how there is nothing he can do to help me and sent me on my way. Even if that is true, I would have appreciated him at least being somewhat curious, asking good questions and making me feel like I was being given individualized attention. This left me with the impression that he is not that good, not that knowledgeable and that he could care less with helping his patients uncover what’s causing their issues. He is very unimpressive as a doctor. Don’t waste your time or money.

Dr Selznick did surgery to put in a Neuropace, and about a month later I had a CSF leak. When surgery was done to fix that, it was found I had an infection. I was given a PICC line for that. After fixing the CSF leak, I had ongoing pain (in tears daily, multiple trips to the ER). I saw Dr Selznick, told him of the ongoing pain and how I was having to take 3 ibuprofen every 6 hours, and he said I was addicted to ibuprofen. I was at a loss as to what to do. Thankfully, not long after this I moved out of state and, 6 MONTHS later, after continuously taking ibuprofen every 6 hours because I didn't know what else to do and multiple trips to the ER, I saw a neurologist where I now live who determined I had an infection and scheduled surgery immediately. He was right. I did have an infection. I was *literally* taking less ibuprofen immediately after that craniotomy than I was the months prior to it. I question if I'd be alive if I hadn't moved and seen a different doctor.

Three Mayo Clinic neuros diagnosed my NPH and recommended a shunt. Dr. Selznik was closer to home and more convenient, but refused to do the operation, claiming I'd be dead in 3-6 months if he did. I went back to Mayo, had the op, and am much better. I'm still here, and still baffled by Dr. Selznick's dire diagnosis.

He is a competent surgeon but you only see him if/when you actually get the surgery. All other times he requires you to come in you are seen by his assistant. The wait time to see him is awful. I had an appointment that he was over a hour late for. His office tells you to be there early but he is always late. Seeing the assistant you still wait past your appointment time. I have seen other doctors in his practice and I have never waited as long as I have to wait for him every time.

I had back surgery last fall. I do not know exactly what he did to me. After one has surgery from that office, you do NOT get to speak w/your physician during your post-op visit. You see a nurse practioner, so I could not ask questions I had about my back. I do know he worked on nerves. They also do NOT keep one after surgery. I was sent home upon leaving Recovery & was told by the N.P. that that is how that office does things. I would not recommend this office unless you really like pain!!

Dr Selznick is a very talented surgeon. He first performed surgery on me that entailed insertion of Medtronics Deep Brain Stimulation with dual leads with subsequent non-rechargeable battery insertion 2 weeks later. My only concern is I've been under the knife 3 times in less than 3 years. Due to the short life of the non-rechargeable battery that was originally inserted by another non-rechargeable. My Neurologist recommends the next to be rechargeable so it will reduce the number of surgeries.
