Brilliant, compassionate, caring, very experienced
Dr. Uppendahl treated my cousin for an aggressive type of uterine cancer, using robotic surgical tools. I speak with 45 years of medical and hospital experience when I describe Dr. Uppendahl’s care as excellent. He is a gifted surgeon with an open and gentle communication style. His thorough knowledge and ability to explain both big and small details added to our trust and confidence in his care. Those he treats and educates are very fortunate.

My dgtr is currently in Assention via Christy St Francis Hosp on the Oncology floor. She has a bleeding issue status post a radical hysterectomy 12 years ago. 5 years ago Wesley hosp could not diagnose her problem. Now they have, and can only offer radiation/ chemo. And when she asked to have the 7 cm mass surgically removed, all this Dr could do was scare her by telling her he would remove a bowel section, do a removal of gal bladder, send her home with a colostomy. Not a good bedside manner, my son in law said he was very abrupt, curt, and left the room leaving some medical papers which my dgtr had to tell the staff to get. They won't keep her but she gets to go home with a tube in her kidney, to drain continually, til the biopsy report comes back!!!!!! So giving her no confidence & also the mass has necrotic tissue. I am a retired nurse and when a wound is necrotic you must clean it out so good tissue can heal!!!! Somethings wrong with the medical treatment these days!!! Don't listen to the patient worse than when I was in it!!!! Told my dgtr to get a 2nd opinion!!!!!

Don’t recommend
Doesn’t listen. Doesn’t take the patients opinions and feelings into consideration. Disrespectful and doesn’t like questions.

Great Doctor
This was my doctor that performed my hysterectomy. He is very kind and friendly. I am surprised with my recovery since I've never had major surgery before. He is through, understanding and trustworthy. I look forward to continued improvements in my recovery and to my last visit. I highly recommend this doctor.

Dr. Uppendal has been great. He walked us through the cancer diagnosis, was kind and compassionate as we were all very scared, and did a great jib with the surgery. Highly recommend! He is also well known in the medical community; even my cardiologist said he is a great doctor.
