Ignored me, my concerns and told me to lose weight
I saw Dr Cardwell for a hernia. I saw her because she was the first in-network doctor that had availability and my GP wants the hernia operated on ASAP. She spent the majority of the visit talking to my wife instead of me, the patient. She then told my wife (not me) that I was too fat to operate on and that if I've lost 15 lbs in a month we can schedule surgery a month after that. I brought up the fact that I'm in constant pain, but because it's not 'severe pain' that, apparently, doesn't matter. The entire process sucked. I received constant notifications to fill out the pre-check-in paperwork online, which I did. When I went to check-in, I was handed the exact same paperwork to fill out again. I asked if MyChart didn't register the information and the reception just kind of shrugged and told me that it might have. After I filled out the paperwork a second time and made it back to the exam room a resident asked me the same questions a 3rd time. Dr Cardwell asked a 4th time

I saw Dr. Lori Cardwell in consultation for a large, painful, left inguinal hernia. I chose Dr. Cardwell because of her exemplary accomplishments in medical school and general surgery fellowship training. I found her to be pleasant, knowledgeable, and caring. She clearly aims to provide the best possible care for all of her patients. As a physician, I was concerned about the benefits and advantages of the various surgical approaches for the repair of an inguinal hernia, specifically laparoscopic and robotic surgery compared to open surgical repair. Dr. Cardwell has had considerable experience with all three surgical approaches. She discussed the pros and cons of each approach as well as the use of “mesh” to repair the hernia defect itself. In my case, Dr. Cardwell recommended an open surgical repair using mesh. The surgery was successful and the postoperative course has been uneventful. I am extremely pleased with her care and surgery and highly recommend Dr. Cardwell.
