Dr. Lori Schmerling, DO

Terrible experience in ER in Universities Hospital in Davie, FL.

I went to see her for a nagging medical issue and she was very empathic and talked over with me what was needed to accurately further test my symptoms and issues. She lead me in the right directions and I will be forever grateful. Thanks to her she got me the help that I needed quickly and effectively.

Unfortunately, I had the disservice of being attended to by Dr. Schmerling. Her bedside manners were non-existent. I am currently being discharged by her and still in agonizing pain and no answers. The moment she walked in and I greeted her with a smile, she was nothing but rude and did not even bother asking why I was there other than dismissing me and my health complaints. When I told her that it was unlikely that I was pregnant, she rolled her eyes and said “humor me”. I used to refer local community members to the HCA facility in Davie, however, todays experience has changed my outlook. The lack of professionalism and utter digruntledness of Dr. Schmerling would best describe her as a grinch during this holiday season.

This doctor is dangerous. Presented to the ER with a kidney stone that passed 2 days later. She seemed angry that I self diagnosed even though I have a history of stones, denied the results of a CT that showed a stone lodged in my ureter, and discharged me with three medications for a UTI. One of these was an antibiotic, so she'll gladly create superbugs to save face and prove herself correct. She should not be a doctor.

I saw her recently at MD Now Parkland....was having what seemed to me were Covid/Flu symptoms...her response were it's not flu season and you don't have Covid symptoms for the current strain...well guess what? I tested positive for Covid....her bedside manner was ridiculous....she should look into another profession where she doesn't have to deal with the public.

Dr Schmerling is amazing. I went into the office for myself and my 3 children. She couldn’t have been more patient and thorough with each one of us. She took the time to explain everything, give advice and answer all of my questions. She remained very professional yet kept things light to ease my kids fears. I would 100% recommend being treated by Dr Schmerling!

Dr. Lori Schmerling is cold hearted, insensitive, sadistic, and unprofessional. She is a danger to her patients, and doe's not care at all about them. STAY FAR AWAY!!!

I didn't see her at hallandale but rather in Broward general, but either way my advice to you if you have her in the ER, ask for another doctor because she will not care about you at all. She literally spent 3 mins with me and didn't go over exam results didn't bother to ask the are that was hurting nothing. But the little time, she was Rude and Unprofessional. Did not exhibit any patient care at all. I went in the ER with pain, and left with the same pain cause she said it was not an emergency.
