Dr. Lucia Covington, DMD

Dr. Lucia Covington is extremely rude, unprofessional, disrespectful. She does not say a word to you before & after the surgery. She will just walk out without saying a single word. Not a single “how are you”, “I hope you feel better”, you know, normal human decency! I understand there’s people who are in and out and just want to get the “job” done. During the surgical process of removing my four wisdom teeth and stitching process, she grabbed my jaw and pulled it down extremely hard and hurt me. I was crying from the pain and unable to speak when she was in between stitching because the numbing medicine started to wear off. She yelled at me for “flexing my face”, and proceeded to yell at me saying “nobody is even doing anything to you!” At one point I turned my head just a little and she grabbed my face by my jaw towards her and yelled at me to keep my face facing towards her. What a shame that she is not only the owner but the only available dental surgeon at that office.

Terrible bedside Manor. Impatient...made my 21 yo daughter cry.

I had a dental emergency and was able to be seen immdiately. The staff were welcoming, caring, kind and professional. Dr. Covington is very low key and straight forward. I could tell the moment the procedure started that I was in extremely capable hands. The bill was less than the initial amount I was quoted, the aftercare instructions couldn't have been clearer or more comprehensive, and I was called later that evening to ensure that I had not experienced any complications. I highly recommend Dr. Covington.

My appointment with Dr Covington could not have been more pleasant. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The office itself is decorated so attractively. The staff was friendly, professional, and efficient. Dr. Covington extracted a tooth using local anesthesia . Even the injections were the easiest ever.The procedure itself was painless. I’m no kid. I’d love to reminisce about some of my experiences in the chair, with the business offices, and with practice staff in dental offices through the years, but I’ll defer- trust me, I know good practices and practitioners from lesser ones. Dr Covington is professionally qualified (you can drill down), well trained, procedurally highly competent, and comfortingly “real” . I’ve had two procedures here- one of which was lengthy with some degree of complication- and I’m impressed with this practitioner and the business. Dr Covington has ties to the community, is raising a family, running a patient-centric business (a single Doc practice by the way) and yet remains approachable, patient, and kind. I recommend this Dr and practice.

They totally know how to play the patient and the insurance company for money. The Dr. knows how to pull a tooth but money is the only thing they are really concerned about. Total ripoffs.

Drove past two other oral surgeons because two friends have told me Waccamaw oral surgery had a totally different vibe and the Dr. was VERY skilled and personable. Very happy to find healthcare providers still community minded like I just found here! Thank you so much for your honesty in explaining to my wife and I that we actually did not need the more expensive procedure and further costs that our dentist suggested and that another oral surgeon was ready and willing to do before even seeing her! Dr. Covington was the same during our consult as in the day of surgery and today for follow up. Everything went great, and she even answered her phone early Sunday morning when I thought it would be a staff member but interupted Dr. Covington with her family. She said it is part of the job and her place in the community. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and go see this woman if you're in the Myrtle Beach area. It's worth the drive down to Murrells Inlet.

I would give this office a zero, if I could! Very bad professionalism at this office. The people in the front seem lost and are unorganized. There is no barrier between waiting area and front desk workers. They can be heard clear as day complaining about other patients after each call and after patients leave. The back staff are young girls who also don't seem like they have a clue! The doctor is rude and brash! I left room to go to restroom and could hear the doctor down the hall talking negatively about her patients. Office is tiny and very dingy. The consultation rooms are also the surgery rooms! I wouldn't feel comfortable allowing my child to have surgery here, doesn't seem sanitary and staff is horrid. I do not normally write reviews, but I felt it was necessary to prevent other patients from wasting there time here. After this horrible waste of my time appointment, I ended up going across the street to the new Coastal Oral Surgery center. What a difference!

Dr. Covington is in one word, INCREDIBLE. The staff are the best and very professional. I would highly recommend Dr. Covington to anyone who may have any fears going to the dentist.

I arrived early for my appointment at Dr. Covington's, filled out pages of paperwork, gave them my insurance card, agreed to pay any portion not covered by insurance, but then they would not honor my appointment because I would not sign an agreement saying I would have to pay up to $250 and have my appointment canceled if I was over 15 minutes late to any future appointments! Even though I waited three weeks for the appointment and had a cracked tooth that was bothering me, I walked out.

I had a number of teeth removed, bone and gum reduced to prepare for a denture. While Dr Civington is a pleasant person, her skills are a bit lacking. I have not been able to get a denture fitted because the job was not done correctly. I have spent a lot of $ for that surgery, now must spend much more. I did tell the staff when i came back I didnt think the gum would take a denture. The staff was extremely dismissive and clearly arent interested in problems, just your $. Shameful

Dr. Covington and her staff were very attentive and professional. They were able to see me quickly due to the urgency of my situation. I think the care I received was excellent. We are very lucky to have her in our area. Would highly recommend her.

Having a tooth extracted is not fun but Dr. Covington and her staff were .extremely kind, thorough, professional and made me feel at peace with the process. My experience with Dr. Covington was the experience I have ever had with an oral surgeon. She was very professional and explained everything to me. The nurses well also very professional and explained everything that was going to be done what to expect. I would highly recommend Dr. Lucia Covington to every body who needs an oral surgeon.
