Craniotomy
Much to my surprise, I underwent surgery with Dr. Kolb, on the evening of July 17, 2024 and into the early morning of July 18, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital. I say much to my surprise, because this event was totally unexpected. Dr. Kolb handled the entire episode in a truly outstanding and professional manner, even calling my wife at 1:30 a.m. in the morning to assure her of the success of the procedure. I wish there were more like this guy, the world would be a better place. Thank you Dr. Kolb.

excellent doctor
I had an ACDF surgery on my C5/6 disk. I was really scared, in an enormous amount of pain and unfortunately surgery was the only answer. There were no complications, my scar healed beautifully, and no more pain. I could not be more grateful and thankful that Dr Kolb performed the surgery. Highly recommend!!

HE DOES SURGERY THEN FORGETS HIS PATIENTS EXIST!
Dr. Kolb performed a 6.5hr procedure on my mother last December & he NEVER called her to check on her after nor in recovery. She had several post-op issues & ONLY Yale's Spine PAs called us & her rehab nurses although we asked to speak with him. HE NEVER CALLED US! He saw her for the FIRST time since her December surgery yesterday, 4/4 & her visit was rushed & when she inquired as to why he never called her, or called her after her surgery he responded "that's how we do it here" & that he has a great team that knows what they're doing. A PA is NOT a surgeon! They didn't perform the procedure & there are questions that only the person who PERFORMED the actual surgery is qualified to answer! She went into her EMR chart & saw that the xrays done showed a new compression fracture not seen on her pre-op xrays but Dr. Kolb never said a WORD during yesterday's OV! Its 15 hours since she called him & he STILL hasnt called her. NEVER AGAIN!

Horrible...
This guy should be in a machine shop. I had a 2 level ACDF and now I have pain and numbness in places I never had before. He never examined me before or after surgery. Look for alternatives.

Dr. Kolb was my surgeon for a laminectomy / spinal fusion early in 2021. The surgery went very well and I had no problems post-surgery. I am happy to say I have relief from the extreme pain of sciatica and spinal stenosis I suffered for several years, and I am doing very well. Very positive experience! Thanks, Dr. Kolb.

Was in a major motorcycle accident, transferred to three hospitals with a shattered t 12 vertebrae and wasn't sure if I would ever be able to walk again. After surgery I still had feeling in my legs and they were able to teach me to walk again. Almost two years out of surgery now and am pretty much completely back to normal other than some aches and pains.

When it comes to major surgeries, a more experienced surgeon is crucial. After surgery I am unable to perform most activities of daily living.

Excellent surgeon. I was sent to Dr. Kolb from another surgeon in May last year because my surgery was too high risk. Dr. Kolb told me the risks of surgery. After being in a wheelchair for 2 years, I am now walking with a cane after surgery. Cannot than him enough.

Somehow my review keeps getting deleted. I have every right to relay my experience. I will never be the same. I walked into surgery but never walked out. I trusted that I would be healed and not harmed. Choose your providers wisely!

I came to see Dr. Kolb as a second opinion after I was offered a spinal fusion. He took the time to listen to me and do a full exam. He recommended I try to wait as long as possible. He sent me to Dr. Holder and within 2 months may pain was improving. Two years later my pain is almost all gone and I avoided a fusion the other doctor was going to do.

Dr. Kolb is amazing. I had had 5 surgeries in my back prior and all my other surgeons had told me they wouldnt help. Dr. Kolb saw me and took the time to tell me what my problem was and why I couldnt walk straight. He took me to surgery and now I can finally stand straight. Thank you Dr. Kolb!!

Dr. Kolb was absolutely outstanding throughout my entire surgery process. As a 27 year old who just moved to New Haven for grad school at Yale within the last two months, learning that I had a tumor in my spine was a very difficult time. However, Dr. Kolb approached the issue with the perfect balance of stating the facts and pros and cons of surgery while also allowing space for emotions and coming to grips with the diagnosis. My procedure was originally scheduled for about 7 hours but ended up taking 12 hours as Dr. Kolb very meticulously removed an extremely complicated tumor that was entwined with a nerve and artery. A post-op MRI showed the tumor was completely removed. There are very few people who have made a significant direct impact on my quality of life and Dr. Kolb is one of them. Heaven forbid if I need to have neurosurgery again, I will certainly be flying to Yale New Haven Health and having Dr. Kolb perform the surgery regardless of where I'm living at the time.
