Love this man!
Dr. Qasim is my bipolar, schizophrenic, alcoholic husband’s psychiatrist for almost 20 years. He got us through some tough times and really listened to what I said about my husband’s behaviors. He worked closely with us and got my husband sober and he has remained sober for 13 years. His mental health is also good now because Dr. Qasim worked with us to find the right combination of medications. He is very caring and so is his staff.

I’m here to help others
I’m mainly here to help other people find better care because I know this office is infamous. I used to go to this doctor and thought I was receiving decent care because I had nothing else to compare it to. I went to this office for over ten years. Anyway, I established care with a new psychiatrist at Washington University about 10 months ago. The immediate and tremendous difference in care was almost a culture-shock to me, because I did not realize that it could be this great. I had nothing else to compare to previously, and I just assumed the care (or lack thereof) I was receiving from this doctor was the baseline, or “the norm”, for every psychiatric practice. If you have issues with this doctor, which based off the rating, I’m assuming most of you do, PLEASE make the jump and give yourself the care you deserve. Find somebody else within your network. I was driving home from work today, and I could not help but be come on here to let people know there are other options.

Find a Different Psych
Dr Qasim and his staff (assuming you can actually get a hold of anyone there) clearly do not care about their patients. Everyone is rude and treats patients like an inconvenience. No questions, no detailed treatment plans or extra work to try and actually help patients. You will get the bare minimum (if that) so that they can get paid. Don't waste your time or mental health.

Expertise
Dr. Qasim has become my Bipolar son's and mine FAV physician. Although initially my son wanted someone "warmer," as he was treated effectively for Bipolar and Dr. Quasim became a trusted advisor, our relationship has become invaluable. He trusts me as the caregiver to my son and works so well with the both of us. He is a valuable, efficient, wise man.

Dr. M. Javed Qasim is the worst psychiatrist I have ever been to. There is no way to talk to anyone at the office about scheduling an appointment, medication refills, or other questions; you will only be leaving messages, praying the office calls you back, because you're out of medication and the doctor's office won't take any calls. No matter what day or time you call, you will be leaving a message (and probably won't get a call back). Appointments with the doctor are either rushed, or replaced entirely with a short conversation with a nurse, who cannot adjust your medication at all. Sometimes your appointment will just be cancelled, and you'll have to leave a message with the office and hope they eventually get back to you. Do yourself a favor and find a different doctor than M. Javed Qasim.

Update: Office is still terrible. Right now I'm out of my mood stabilizer because the office didn't provide me with refills. I thought, no big deal, I'll just call up and order a refill. I left a message (you'll never talk to a human) but didn't get a refill. I saw my appointment had been cancelled, so I made another one so I could request refills. At the appointment, I asked for refills, but still nothing. I've also called my pharmacy multiple times to request a refill on my mood stabilizer from the doctor. I've been trying to get a normal psychiatric drug with no potential for abuse, that is THE MAIN psychiatric drug I take and is most important to my mental well being, for OVER A WEEK. Without this medication, I won't be able to sleep and I'll almost certainly suffer a mixed episode. I wouldn't trust this office with the mental well being of a dog much less a human. They either don't care, are terrible at their jobs, or both. Stay far away if you actually value your mental health.

Off my Meds (Thanks Doc) – Jul 20, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you M Javed Qasim?
My son spoke to Dr. Qazim once, in the time he treated him. That was after being "his patient" for two and a half months. The rest of the time you're with a Nurse who prescribes for him. The reviews about the lack of response on the phone are correct. It has been two weeks without a response. Call every day, call multiple times a day, you will get no response. Unreal...

I have been a patient of Doctor Qasim for many years. This man has helped me through some of my darkest hours. He saved my life. How? He has taught me that medicine is not the only key to remission from a metal illness. He has taught me that if I have to do the work, I need to commit to doing my best work possible. He has taught me that just because I have a mental illness, it does not have to define me. He always listens to every thing I have to say. He offers his honest opinion. And, we compromise on my treatment. He never forces me to do anything I don't want to do. He has allowed me to progress at my own rate. I want to say thank you Dr. Qasim for letting me be me.

Dr Qasim has been the absolute best. He listens to every word without judgement and will give you every minute of his time that you need. He takes the time to know you to know how to treat you. He never makes you feel bad and allows you to be part of the decision making if you choose. He’s been my doctor for most of my adult life and I have full faith in him. He’s patient, kind and considerate. And he’s more than willing to work with you if you do your part. I highly recommend him!

Great Dr. and great facility. I have been traveling across the us with my wife due to her job and had a lot of difficulties finding temporary providers in each city/state I went to. This place gave me no trouble and even let me take a couple scripts with me when I moved again incase I had any troubles finding a dr so I wouldn't run out of medication. The staff at the front desk are very friendly especially one in particular I can't remember her name but she says honey and sweetheart a lot.

So many people saying bad things about Dr Q. I met him when he was helping my dad out and I've been with him going 2 years now. He gave me so many different kinds of meds till we found the right combination. Looking at me now you wouldn't know I'm a severe Bi-Polar. I also suffer from severe social anxiety panic disorder, some he said chances of me getting that under control may never happen that I might continue getting worse. We still try new meds, but he hasn't given up on me!!
