He's a fraud!
I was supposed to have surgery to make my turbinates smaller. I had issue after issue post surgery. Dr. Kandula said everything was fine. After seeing other ENT's I was told that "he made made you a nasal cripple." He removed my turbinates completely! Now I will have to live the rest of my life with no filters or humidifiers in my nose. I have Empty Nose Syndrome and he created it. Wouldn't recommend him to anyone!!!

My husband was the first among us to visit Advent and had a sinus procedure so he could breathe more easily. His snoring was atrocious and sometimes he would shake the bed. He had a procedure with Dr. Kandula and was breathing better that day. His snoring disappeared. I was so impressed, that I had to try Advent myself. I went into this with the attitude that I had had a conventional sinus surgery 8 years earlier and they would tell me there was nothing they could do. However, a scan (which they do right there and it literally takes 2 minutes and is painless - you are sitting revealed that they could help clean out the sinus area so I could breathe better and get less sinus infections which is the reason I had the first surgery. I have been plagued with sinus infections in the lovely Wisconsin winters all my life. I had the same procedure with Dr. Ethan Handler and it was amazing how much better my breathing became and how fewer sinus infections I now get.

I've been a patient of Dr. Kandula for years. I have asthma, allergies and chronic sinus issues including polyps. I have had multiple surgeries to remove the polyps and they have even suggested a new asthma treatment that has helped reduce the polyps. No surgeries for a while now! I would highly recommend them. Unfortunately my insurance says they are no longer in network, I will probably change insurance if this does not change next year.

The staff and services where fine but the major issue was cost. Make sure you have your deductible met or have access to a car loan. After a few visits and a head CT they recommended balloon sinuplasty. An oral appliance was the second option but the sinuplasty was the recommended path. When I got the bill, I almost fell off the chair and my mouth couldn't drop any further open. The procedure took about 20 minutes, which was in their office, no anesthesia, a PA and a surgeon. My total time in the office was less than an hour. The bill for that was $48,000. Funny that the insurance paid only $24.000. I wish I could charge $150,000/hour. No wonder medical insurance cost is so high. There are 4-5 post surgery visits. They don’t code them as post-surgery, so they are not part of the $48,000 bill. The visits are to remove any mucus and scabbing. Each one was $2200 for 5 minutes of work. Just because they use an endoscope, they charge an exuberant fee. For that much money I can go buy 22 en

The whole experience felt like an aggressive sales pitch for VERY expensive & experimental treatment options that your insurance is likely not going to cover. If you are seeking relief for seasonal allergies as I was I would caution you to STAY AWAY from Dr. Kandula/Advent! Dr. Kandula may be a good option for sleep/breathing issues but you are very likely to pay an arm and a leg to get treatment for regular seasonal allergy. You cannot see Dr. Kandula without first meeting with a physician's assistant which I personally do not believe to be good practice. Also be advised that they also require you to have a nasal endoscopy performed during the initial office visit (stick a camera inside your nose throat) - your insurance will most likely categorize nasal endoscopy as a surgical procedure and will likely bill at a VERY high rate....I ended up paying almost $1,000 for my initial office visit.

When I called Dr Kandula's office to set up an appointment to see him I was told that I had to see his medical assistant first and only then I could see him. His medical assistant, during the required visit, told me that I had to take antibiotics for two weeks before I could get a CT scan of my sinuses. ( It seems according to the clinic manager that for the insurance to pay for the CT scan they had to "treat" the patient first). About 10 days into my "treatment" my appointment with Dr Kandula was cancelled for very much questionable reasons and that I would have to see one of the other two doctors in his clinic. If from the beginning they had explain to me that I wasn't going to be able to see Dr Kandula because he was doing more research now and his time to see patients was limited, I would not had made the "required" appointment with his medical assistant in the first place.

I would not recommend Dr. Kandula or going to see any of his PA's or staff because you will not get answers. I had a CT scan done years ago and he does a poor job of explaining it, telling you that your options are the balloon sinuplasty or the traditional surgery. So I went with the balloon sinuplasty. I have been a chronic sinus sufferer and thought it was time to do something more. It has not helped, lots of $ spent, he needs to find non surgical latest treatments and get to the root of it.

OUTRAGEOUS AND UNETHICAL BILLING PRACTICES/CHARGES. I saw Dr. Kandula for a balloon sinuplasty. It is camera guided tube into the nose that when the doctor presses a button dilates the sinus drainage hole for 10 seconds to 6mm to help sinus drain. The procedure took a total of about 20 minutes in his Wauwatosa office. This is the procedure he promotes daily on local radio and TV. When I looked at my insurance claim form, I saw that he billed my Humana insurance $37,300 for the 20 minutes.
