Wonderful PCP!
I have loved seeing Dr. Akbar for the past two years. In fact, I changed insurance at the end of 2024 in order to continue our relationship. She is very kind and compassionate, and when she sits down with you, you immediately feel as though she truly cares about you as a person. She is quick to respond to messages, and I appreciate that she offers options and allows the patient to choose what is best for them rather than dictating what they 'must' do. I would highly recommend Dr. Akbar and the MCMG North practice.

Dr. Akbar was fine at first. Like most doctors, she couldn't do much without referring me elsewhere, and a lot of her referrals were not that helpful, especially when I suffered multiple hernias. But also, like most doctors, it is impossible to communicate directly with her when her office causes problems. Over the several years I've been seeing her prescriptions have been a constant issue. And then the behavior around the pandemic was the last straw. This Office ostensibly under the blessings of Dr. Akbar and Virginia Denbow, held my prescriptions hostage until a well visit was to be scheduled at the height of the pandemic. They'd rather risk my and their employees health than risk missing the opportunity to bill medicaid for an unnecessary visit.

I saw Dr. Akbar when my regular family physician at the same practice was out of the country. She was awesome! She took time to answer all of my questions and explained her responses thoroughly. She is very knowledgeable. Not once did I feel rushed. She is pleasant to talk to and has a sense of humor. I wouldn't let inaccurate info from insurance company deter me from seeing Dr. Akbar. Clarification among physicians and insurance reps can be resolved. I would recommend her to anyone!

I will not return. Dr. Akbar told me she could not simply draw blood for a cholesterol level check; that my insurance requires a full physical, with colonoscopy, mammogram, etc. I received a response today from my insurance stating this is not true.
