Lack of communication
I was just sent a letter dismissing me as a patient. No real reason listed, I did miss an appointment because I was sick. No calls, no letters … just fired as a patient. The front desk has an attitude that I ignored because he was nice. I’d steer clear. There are better doctors with better staff.

Terrible Treatment by Staff
I was referred by my GP, filled out paperwork prior to my appointment, waited 6 months for the appointment, drove a bit more than an hour to get there 15 minutes early, then was told I could not see the doctor. I was told my insurance was verified but that an electronic copy of said insurance was not enough. If I'd been told in advance they only wanted a paper copy, I could've printed one. I asked if I could self pay and I would submit to my insurance and was told no. It was made clear that denying my appointment had nothing to do with lack of insurance or ability to pay. After all this waiting and trouble, I still don't have the healthcare and help I need. HORRIBLE OFFICE!

Dr. Upadhyay was my diabetes doctor for a couple of years and my diabetes was not getting better because I have a benign tumor on my pancreas. When he found out I was leaving he told me no one would fix me. He was rude and very cold. The next diabetic doctor I went to was wonderful and I’m feeling much better now. Don’t go to him!

Horrendous front office staff
On my first visit after taking months to get appointment because my blood sugar is dangerous right now, driving an hour to get there. I was asked to pay my $20 copay. There was nothing stating i had to pay the copay right then and there. I explained I'm not working right now and literally do not have it today. Can you bill me for it and I said "are you saying you won't see me unless I pay the copay today and the ofc mgr just butted in with no we wont and went on a tirade about, "You pay for groceries and gas at the time of service dont you" i stopped her there with I've worked in bealthcare for 14 years you dont need to explain that, besides this is healthcare. I'm not buying groceries and she said they won't see me and to get another referral for another office because of my attitude? Please people...do yourselves a favor and steer clear of this office.

If you want a competent office staff don't go there. I called and told them about labs that I had done by my primary which was a thyroid level, Dr. Upadhyay needed to know about. I called the office and talk to the staff twice, both times they said they would let the doctor know. I called Monday and left a message stating if I was a diabetic he would have called me back by now. Finally I get a call back and he wants to see me ASAP. During the appointment he informs me the staff NEVER told him about my labs till Monday. When I left I spoke to them and all of them were rude and basically said because he didn't order it, he didn't know about it, which is why I called in the first place. Office staff does not give messages to the doctor unless they feel it's necessary. So if you have hypothyroid hashimotos thyroiditis, you are VERY low on the office staffs radar on letting the doctor know anything.

I've got type 1 diabetes and Hashimoto's disease (low thyroid) and have been seeing Dr Upadhyay for a few years. When I started seeing him I was having problems with my A1C drifting up but not being able to figure out why. He's very knowledgable and explains things well and was able to help me identify a few things to change to improve my control and bring my A1C's back down to a good level

Dr. Upadhyay is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable and recommended surgery for my thyroid and parathyroid. The surgeon he recommend was the absolute best in his field. I feel confident I am receiving the best care from Dr. Upadhyay. He has a great staff and I am always seen in a timely manner.

If you have, or suspect that you have, primary hyperparathyroidism, DO NOT SEE MR UPADHYAY! Mr Upadhyay is not qualified to treat hyperparathyroidism. He is not a surgeon, so when it comes time to remove the poisonous tumor he wont do it. He recommended high dosages of vitamin D, this can cause a stroke for patients with this disease. He would only use a scan to diagnose, can't be seen on a scan. Mr Upadhyay would've caused a treatable disease to be terminal.

Do yourself a favor and find someone else. Calls aren't returned, RX that had to be sent to the pharmacy never made it there despite MANY phone calls and vms. Awful care for patients. :(
