Explosive, arrogant, and agressive.
I gave one star just so I could post a review. I cannot believe this Doctor is practicing on 'hearts'. Absolutely no bedside manner. Routine appts consist of no eye contact, no coversation and or interaction. He did listen to my heart with the stethoscope, but that was the extend of my appt with him. Last time I saw him, he was in the room for exactly 4:49 min. I spent more time with the nurse, who btw was behind a computer screen, than I did with him. I've had issues with cholesterol statins, so he prescribed Repetha newly FDA approved injections. I asked about the side effects, and he said, 'it's a statin, so u might still have muscle pain, but it'll be fine'. And he walked out. The day after taking this new medication, we left to on a trip abroad celebrate our anniversary. Two days into our trip, I was deadly sick. I ended up in a hospital with severe allergic reaction for 7 days. I contacted him, and I recvd a letter advising me I was no longer welcomed at ANY of the OHH.

Just won’t listen.
I have been a patient of Dr. Weitzel since 2020 and have been telling him my symptoms and issues but he is so dismissive it makes me feel like I’m crazy. He doesn’t listen to my concerns, is so quick to compare me to “recent studies”, and he answers his phone or is eating during my visit. I also feel like I go round and round with medications and diagnostic tests that read abnormal but he says they are normal. It’s my own fault for staying this long but I am finally going to transfer care.

Can't recommend
My 83 year old mother and I left in tears. Rude and mean. Not how we want our heart physician to treat us. Wouldn't allow us to ask questions, when we asked about her blood pressure meds we were told if we wanted to treat her go ahead and leave, but if we wanted him to, just do what he says. Crazy, humiliating, degrading visit.

Experienced, Knowledeable
Dr Weitzel in connection with other Oklahoma Heart doctors saved my life. I have a very complicated health history including AFIB, congestive heart failure, tachycardia so solving my issues was not take 2 aspiring. My previous cardiologist, who I had gone to for 20 years was just going to let me die. A nurse at home healthcare agency told me I needed to change doctors or I was going to die. To go from sitting in a chair & having your food brought to you to being able to cook for family birthdays, holidays, etc., is a miracle. OHH is the best hospital in Oklahoma.

Dismissive
A family member came in for a consultation and he was so rude and dismissive. He rushed them and didn't allow them to even answer the questions he asked! They later called me in tears over how they were treated. Medical issues are scary enough without the doctors making it worse. Why would a heart doctor of all ppl stress out their patients this way? That is literally life threatening!

Dr. Weitzel first saw me in the OHH South ER during a heart attack in 2015. I was in my room with two stents in less than an hour. He has since been terrific with my ongoing heart care and referred me to the very good Dr Melton at OHH North for peripheral artery issues. I can and have highly recommended Dr. Weitzel. He provides excellent explanation and I never feel that he rushes through an appointment. His assistants and staff at OHH are also outstanding, as is the “My OHH” website.

Dr. Weitzel chose a surgeon for me for a valve issue. However I found someone else, who is with the North OK Heart Hospital to do the valve surgery. He let me use this surgeon. As I awoke next early morning in ICU, I saw Dr. Weitzel viewing my info, and he visited me in my ICU bed at the North OK Heart Hospital. He got me back into hospital when the repaired heart was distressed, as I hoped and expected (valve surgery is not fun). I'm on the mend due to Dr. Weitzel's care. Kudos!

Dr. Weitzel has been a bright light for me. I had bypass surgery and it was not successful because of my tiny viens, the surgeon basically said he could not help me and I should go home to die. Dr. Weitzel gave me hope and has been able to help me so much. I love his staff, his nurses and his wife.
