Be careful! I had an awful experience with Dr. O'Connell. She allowed several observers (students?) into the room when I was having an outpatient procedure without asking or even telling me beforehand. I had disclosed to her in advance that I am a survivor of rape and that gynecology exams and procedures are very stressful and difficult for me. I would not have agreed to having 6 people in the room had I been asked if it was okay with me. Dr. O'Connell and the observers proceeded to discuss my fear (I was doing yoga breathing to stay calm) as if I wasn't present. I felt exposed and humiliated. I am confused as to why a trained professional would behave the way Dr. O'Connell did. I am grateful she resolved the issue I was having but it took me two years to seek gynecological care again. I am relieved that my new provider is quite sensitive and caring as well as being competent and knowledgeable.
