Dr. Maria Canizares, MD

My treatment by Dr. Canizares was adequate. I had actually been a patient for several years. The problem came with a change in my insurance coverage. While she is an in-network provider, she used a pathology lab that is out of network for my new insurance and refused to use an in-network lab. I did not find this out till after biopsies had been submitted. When I filed an appeal with my insurance provider, she dismissed me from the practice. The out of network lab was going to cost me over $500 out of pocket extra. Based on my previous medical experience with her, it likely would have been over $2000 for the year.From looking at other reviews, now, it is clear that if you question her office procedures you will likely be dismissed without discussion. Certainly, her prerogative, but not very accommodating.Ask the questions that I didn't know even needed asking.

Dr. Maria Canizares is a skilled and knowledgeable physician. She discovered a tiny tint on my skin that was basal cell cancer. Prior to it getting worse, I quickly had the cancer removed. I've now planned more frequent check-ups with her.
