Dr. Maria Fernando, MD

After years of dealing with depression and anxiety, my family member was finally able to be stable and psychologically healthy! She asks good questions and shows genuine concern. We waited a long time for these results.

I was in the mental health system for close to 20 years before seeing Dr. Fernando and Despina (therapist). Dr. Fernando was the best psychiatrist I have been involved with. She was the first doctor to review my initial diagnosis. My medication was addressed and changed substantially. I improved quickly. She us upfront and direct - in my experience her candor is a welcome asset to the field. She does set expectations quickly and as a patient I was expected to regard my treatment as important and as a priority. She is practical and attentive. I recommend her practice.

I am so happy to have found Dr. Fernando. She took a DNA sample from me befor she prescribed medication for me. Meds have been terrific. I wonder why all doctors don't take DNA before medicating. She has changed my life and I will always remain grateful for that. The doctor is VERY intelligent and comes with a wealth of experience.

Robin is totally rude and unethical how she treats patients. Dr. Fernando could be very rude and condensending also. I found this to be outrageous for a mental health office to treat patients this way.

Have struggled with alcoholism, and depression for 15 years. In and out of programs, many therapists and psychiatrists looking for an answer to my problems. Dr. Fernando gave me my life back. She diagnosed me with Bipolar II and ADD, took me off of anti-depressants and appropriately medicated me. She is a genius with medications, how they work and how they interact. I will never forget her saying "I am going to help you" at our first meeting. She was confident and she was RIGHT!

The secretary is a mean-spirited person, they refuse to bend even an inch to work with you, they charge extra to fill out an FMLA form, the wait times are long, the care provider tries to run every aspect of your life, they refused to provide EOB paperwork to my secondary insurance because it was too much of a hassle, and they refused to refill my meds a full three weeks before notifying me that they would be discontinuing service to me because I'd not made an appointment recently. STAY AWAY!

I have been in psychiatric treatment and dealt with addiction and alcoholism for the past 10 years. This doctor is nothing short of a godsend for me. I finally got a proper diagnosis after so many years of struggling and self medicating. She is a no fuss, stick to the facts kind of woman but has a very kind and considerate bed side manner. I am stable and NOT DEPRESSED for the first time in 10 years. I cannot recommend her enough.

Pretty much saved my life. First Psychatrist I've gone too that actually listened to me rather than just treating me like a slab of meat in a factory. Only issue is the office hours. Her operation is small so make sure you make your appointments because you may have trouble getting another one.

Worst psychiatrist I have ever had. Borders on unethical. Do not see her unless you want to get worse, not better.
