Dr. Maria Ionita, MD

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Ionita as an exceptional neurologist. She was able to immediately help me relax as she explained each part of the exam and testing process. I'm pleased to be working with her as she is thorough, personable, and highly professional.

2 yrs. ago I was miss-diagnosed with a mini stroke. My speech was slurred. I spent two days in the hospital for nothing. I spent 6 months in speech therapy with no results. It turns out with the proper blood work, nobody ordered it was evident it was neurological. I had an appointment with Dr. Ionita. After she found that out my problem she referred me to Christiana and they scheduled my appointmet with out me knowing. I received a text. She cancelled my appointment. Apparently, I was told she only works with the neck down.

I am in my 70s and Dr. Ionita is likely the worst healthcare worker I have ever encountered. I have a somewhat rare neurological condition that was readily diagnosed by a neurologist in rural NY and then confirmed with full body EMGs. Dr. Ionita told me at least 6 times but likley more, that she does not treat someone with that diagnosis. I explained that is readily treated with a medication that I have taken for 10+ years. She said I might want to try a different med even though she agreed it had more side effects. She continued to tell me she didn't treat my condition and that I should likely find a specialist in neuromuscular disorders, perhaps going to Phily. At that rate, I will return to upstate NY, see my neurologist and visit friends.

Excellent. Helped made me able to live my life less painfully and realize the serious condition I face.

Dr. Ionita has always been so thorough and gone above and beyond to diagnose and treat my husband. She’s a wonderful doctor and person!

I like Dr Ionita great doctor easy to talk to. I feel comfortable with her. Have to wait a while for appointments she stays busy!
