Unbelievably cold, arrogant, and heartless
From the minute I met her I felt dismissed. After a liver transplant eval, she said I was too high risk for Mayo. She told my wife and I that I had about a year. When my wife cried.. she stops, looks at us then proceeds to exit our visit. Cold hearted with no empathy. One year to the day I entered Mayo, after Vanderbilt in Nashville had performed the necessary bypass Mayo team led by Yataco wouldn’t do and treated the HCC liver cancer she didn’t even tell us I had, I received a liver transplant from UFHealth Shands. Don’t get fooled by the name on the building… had we listened to her prognosis like some folks may do, it would have been tragic. Not a fan of Yataco. If you’re assigned her for your eval. Just ask for someone else. I can’t believe she’s still practicing there.

Don’t waste your time and money! She won’t help.
Don’t waste your time and money going to see Doctor Yataco! She won’t listen! She is very cold and condescending! I flew to Mayo Clinic. Expecting a good doctor that would put all my illnesses together and give me some suggestions! Mayo Clinic must not care about there reputation. I called and reported the way I was treated. It was a very expensive and disappointing trip! I still have not heard back from Mayo. They must not care about their reputation. I’m shocked that they would have someone like this working for them!! I arrived and did labs and MRE imaging the day before doctors appointment. I had the results by that night. The next day at my appointment when she came in the room. I expected her to go over imaging. Nothing, I had to ask her about it. She never gave me my labs and some were not normal! She acted like she did not want me asking questions. She was looking at me like why are you here bothering me!!

Tells it like it is
Dr. Yataco is very straight forward and does not sugar coat things. I prefer this and like having a doctor that is direct. She takes the time to answer my questions and I've never had a bad experience with her. She is a great doctor and I trust her recommendations.

Not good advertisement for Mayo Clinic
I have been to Hepatologists in the past and found them calming, informative and great listeners. I don't know how this Dr. is still at Mayo. I am stressed out every time I have to see her. Her manner is harsh and somewhat condescending. Gives no credit for your hard work or your intellect. Very egocentric and not patient oriented. I can see why so many gave her one star. I give her the benefit of the doubt that she may not really understand what a negative effect she has on patients and her supervisor may not be aware. Maybe she needs some advice from above.

THE WORST- Leaves you feeling depressed & hopeless
Yataco is unapproachable, cold, and by the way *NOT* a hepatologist, but a gastro acting like she's a hepatologist. Every time we saw her while my husband was on the liver transplant list, I felt dejected and anxious afterward. She is super negative and presumes a worst case outcome. When my husband was experience hepatic encephalopathy (confusion, brain fog), she ordered a battery of cognitive tests to rule out dementia...SERIOUSLY?? On a liver patient where the disease causes brain fog and confusion. And even through this, my husband somehow passed their test. Friends of ours also had a terrible experience with her and complained to the head of the transplant department. Why Mayo keeps her on staff is a mystery to me.

Negative ?? This doctors blames the patient. I agree with the other poster she is all about numbers. Dies not want to listen and she knows what is best-really? Very discouraging just like the other reviews. I don’t wish her on anyone. She gives Mayo Clinic a bad name. I am sure they’re are more patients with similar experiences. How come the Mayo Clinic doesn’t see these or listen to patient complaints. Her husband is a doctor and guess what same thing all negative reviews. Perhaps a coincidence? I think not.

I'll admit to being very worried when I found out my husband had an appointment with Dr. Yataco. We were traveling 2 days to meet with her and her online ratings thus far were awful. But after meeting with her, I can't imagine giving her less than 5 stars. She was nice, took the time to walk us through his scans, explain his condition, order a few tests and answer a few questions. My husband was minimizing how much pain he was in and she took the time to make him comfortable and draw out the truth from him. Ultimately she is not going to be his surgeon because he needs a different procedure than her specialty, but we had a great experience meeting with her and I would definitely recommend her.

She is very rude. Talks down to you and everything is negative. She said my husband wasn't "cooperating" with the transplant program, which he was, but she didn't have the time to listen. You could tell she didn't care about her patients. I openly greeted HER when she walked in the room, and she totally ignored ;me - totally! Will never go to see her again. She is not a true representation of the Mayo Clinic doctors. "

This doctor has absolutely no "bedside" manners. No sympathy whatsoever. I was there for a liver evaluation. I had a good experience with other doctors and staff members. But, I felt very discouraged after every visit with her. She treats her patients like numbers. She strung me along the whole evaluation and all of the testing seeming to know I would be denied and also permanently denied due to depression and anxiety. It was not a good experience with her unfortunately.

Daughter went through Mayos liver transplant evaluation program with Yataco being the primary doctor. Mayo declined to place my daughter on transplant list due to being treated for depression (effectively). During last meeting with Yataco, she indicated that my daughter would unlikely be selected and that this would end our relationship with Mayo. Her final advice take vitamin A, E and D. No in depth discussion of my daughter prognosis or severity. No plan for continuity of care.

My father had a few visits with Dr. Yataco and was very upset after each visit. She has no sympathy towards the patients and recommends unnecessary treatments. He went into the first visit extremely positive and afterwards was very discouraged and upset for a few days. She was not understanding of his feelings and treats patients like a number not a person. Will NEVER go back to her. Hopefully she can learn to have some compassion for her patients.
