Never
Horrible and Horrific Experience Dr. Mark Buchanan cares more about money than caring for patients in extreme pain with kidney stones. If you cannot pay your deposit for surgery at Lowcountry Ambulatory Surgery Center in full, WATCH OUT! After making a large deposit, Dr. Buchanan himself came out to the waiting room before my daughter’s surgery and berated me and my daughter demanding that a credit card be placed on file for the remaining balance. We were told to “decide right now” or he would send her home without surgery to be scheduled a week later at the hospital. I have never seen a doctor act this way AND in front of everyone in the waiting room and reception area. I decided to pay the balance in full so my daughter could get the surgery she needed.

I was referred to Dr. Mark Buchanan by a doctor. A good friend had been going to him for years and highly recommended him. I found him very helpful and he listened to what I had to say. He is very down to earth and easy to know. He is very understanding of a patient's problems. I had an operation by him and it went very well. I went back for a follow up to be sure all was well and I had an appointment in no time. I definitely recommend him. The staff was not as great. Oh, well.....

Where to start.. I actually read a 1 star review of this doctor before I went and saw him thinking the reviewer was probably just dramatic and angry at life, but then I experienced the same exact thing and worse. I was 22 years old at the time and had chronic testicular pain, Dr. Mark thought I was faking it, but didn't tell me to my face about 2 months later. He prescribed me an antibiotic as a placebo for 3 months, it never worked. He is very luck I never sued him or pressed charges.

Dr. Buchanan is a great urologist and a great surgeon. He is friendly and is always willing to spend quality time with his patients to explain the details of their symptoms and their care needs. He is an excellent surgeon, and he or his staff will answer patient questions or call patients back in a very timely manner.

Coming to Dr. Buchanan is like visiting a friend. He is so kind, and caring. He and his assistant, Jennifer are always smiling, and asking about how I am other than medical reasons. They remember you, and are prompt at getting you in, and out. He sent me a very compassionate letter when my son had passed away. Jennifer always ask how I am doing, and how my other son is. It feels like family, and you can tell how much she loves here job. Which shows you what a wonderful man, and doctor he is!

Dr. Buchanan was polite and seemed competent. Unfortunately, the clinic staff were terrible. I was in the ER earlier in the week, spending several thousand $'s in tests, etc. with a referral to the urologist. Dr. thought I had a pinched nerve, hopefully feel better in a week. I realized Friday my meds from ER would run out over the weekend. Called for refill, waited, called again. They leave a msg at 3 pm, I must come back to office before 5 pm. I call back at 4:30, office is already closed
