Impossible to Schedule Appointment
Wonderful doctor, but scheduling an appointment is your worst nightmare. I waited 36 minutes on the phone only to be put through to voicemail. I called a different number for the Hearing Studio thinking I could get through. She put me through to voicemail. If you reach voicemail, they never call you back. I bought EXPENSIVE Earlens that I love, but I need to have them temporarily removed for an MRI. I can't wait a month for the MRI. I need it now. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

McDonald's Hearing Care
Dr. Dettelbach does the least care possible, he is an 'ear dentist'. At least an hour wait, technician takes you to an old, 1950s hearing box to do a generic hearing test based on your reflexes so the data is faulty, Dr. Dettelbach comes in for about 8 minutes and sells you an overpriced hearing aide. Dr. Dettelbach, with all of his education, is focused on speed of service and maximizing revenue by selling overpriced hearing aides. Go to Costco.

Arrogant doctor with a cold bedside manner. I was told that I needed to have a steroid injection through my eardrum as a result of a viral episode. I told the doctor I was hesitant to have my eardrum punctured to which he simply shrugged his shoulders and said "Ok, but it's your last chance to possibly get your hearing back." No discussion about the efficacy of the procedure, risks or lack of risks, or level of discomfort to expect, just a surprising level of indifference as though I was wasting his time by pausing to consider this invasive procedure. This was a difficult situation made worse by someone who I would expect to treat patients like human beings and not like cars coming in for an oil change.

Dr. Dettlebach is a salesman not a doctor
I saw Dr. Dettelbach for benign vertigo. He ordered a hearing test that was performed w/ many chances of error (e.g. using my non-dominant hand). I then informed him that I thought I had crystals dislodged in both ears. He ignored that, treated only one ear, instructed me how to sleep. By ignoring the other ear, he made the situation much worse, and I was unable to walk without the room spinning and fell many time. Further, IMHO, Dr. Dettlebach is only interested in selling grossly overpriced hearing aids, by linking his poor hearing test with the possibility of dementia. No reliable study links the two. The charge for the hearing aids was about 2 - 3 times higher than the comparable ones sold at Costco. AVOID this doctor. I believe that he is a shyster.

Doc was fine but I wanted FOREVER to get back to see him. They take your money upon check in, tell you to have a seat and I literally sat for an HOUR waiting to be called back. What, my time is not valuable?

-Waiting time is more than 1 hour. - Ten minutes after his manipulations with the instrument in my throat I recognized that he did not clean instrument after the previous patient because I began to feel the formation of the painful vesicle in the corner of the lips which is caused by Herpes virus. -He prescribed me a solution from CVS, which is similar to another one I used before and which did not help me.

This was the single worst interaction I've ever had with a medical professional. He talked down to me. He cut me off several times, and attempted to finish my sentences. He intimated my primary care provider inappropriately treated me. He suggested a course of treatment for what he said is a 5 week old migraine; BUT wouldn't prescribe said treatment. All this in a 5 minute visit for which I waited over an hour.

Sorry to say Dr Dettelbach misdiagnosed one big problem = three years of wrong medication that actually made things worse. Said the (misdiagnosed) problem couldn't be fixed. New ENT gave me correct diagnosis and tx. Dr. D is friendly but rushed. Also never got on top of second, chronic problem, although I kept asking. Never suggested two remedies that turn out to be common.
