Excellent experience with Dr. Gudesblatt
I accompanied my sister, who has been clinically diagnosed with mild Alzheimer's Disease, to see Dr. Gudesblatt yesterday. It was well worth the 2-hour drive. Dr. G. was highly attentive and asked numerous questions about my sister's condition. Initially, we anticipated that he would only order an Amyloid PET scan to determine whether my sister indeed has Alzheimer's. However, the outcome far exceeded our expectations. He thoroughly explained that a PET scan alone could not provide a comprehensive understanding and instead ordered six different tests for my sister: memory assessment, gait analysis, PET scan, MRI, sleep study, and blood work. We felt listened to and well cared for. The staff was exceptionally patient in guiding us through the necessary procedures. We consider ourselves fortunate to have found Dr. Gudesblatt.

Dr Gudesblatt is wonderful. He takes the time to explain everything and has a wonderful beside manner. I would completely recommend him. The only bad thing about this office is their lack of getting back to you after leaving numerous messages.

Best Neurologist
Dr. G is an amazing diagnostician. He instinctively knew much of what was going on with me that no other neurologist even picked up on. Testing confirmed all. He is the neurologist’s neurologist!

A good doctor but insane wait times
He is a good doctor but the wait times are INSANE. Once inside with Gudesblatt, it’s clear why it takes so long. He enjoys having friendly conversations, which is awesome, except one time, I waited 2 hours for my appointment.

Practice is a mess
My spouse waited 3 months while in pain for Gudesblatt. He could have tested for Small Fiber Neuropathy but insisted there was no need to. Told the patient to come back in 3 months if it doesnt heal on its own. Patient finally got frustrated and insisted on the SFN skin test which of course came out positive. Patient waited for almost a month and it turned out the results only took two weeks so the results sat there for two weeks. Then we did bloodwork with also took forever. The office never picks up the phone and the doctor never calls back when you leave a message. What a mess of a practice. Find someone else.

Quirky but great
He has low availability so it often takes many months to get in to see him, and he goes on many tangents and will waste your appointment so you need to come in prepared with what you want to discuss and be kind of firm about addressing it or your appointment will be over before you discuss what you came in for. HOWEVER, he thinks outside the box and is irreplaceable as a doctor for me. He has advocated and sought to help me in ways no other doctor has considered and offers care I have yet to find with anyone else. For the "weird" cases that other doctors dismiss or are stumped by, he's the guy to see.

Dr Gudesblatt is wonderful. He’s patient, kind, thorough. I waited about an hour but it was absolutely worth it, and I’ve waited way longer at other doctors. Dr Gudesblatt knows his stuff. I have some rare conditions that other doctors seem to have trouble pinning down, but Dr Gudesblatt connected all of the dots for me. I’m thrilled to have found him.

I went to Dr Gudesblatt only once so far, so I can't comment on his follow up. I have a rare condition with several secondary disorders/diseases and wanted a second opinion regarding a treatment plan as I was unhappy with the limited (no) options my previous neurologist had given me. Dr Gudesblatt seems almost obsessed with his areas of expertise - it was amazing to see how extensive his knowledge of my condition was. His testing was more thorough and focused than my previous doctors - its clear that he's not shooting in the dark. Most importantly - he gave treatment options - and makes them real options. He didn't push anything or pressure me to make a decision right then and there. He just gave me the facts and told to take some time to think about it. The wait time was on the longer side (hour) but not horrific - I've waited way longer in other offices - but he really does take his time with every patient.

One of the most incredibly caring, attentive, competent, and capable docs I have ever met. He may have saved my life by paying attention to details that weren't even relevant to my actual visit. Around 2013 I was discussing options for cervical spine disk fusion/replacement with him when he noticed something in an unrelated part of the MRI. Instead of just discussing ways to make money by doing surgery on me, he supported my preference to avoid being cut open at that time but delved deeper into the problem he noticed elsewhere. He got me to do a sleep study. Sure enough, I have horrendous life-threatening sleep apnea that I never knew of. It had already caused lots of damage putting me at high risk of stroke (one fatally struck my grand-dad at 44 and another later paralyzed my father). Even 7 years later he's fully attentive, caring about my health, avoiding any unnecessary meds, and firmly guiding me on ensuring I keep up my good lifestyle choices with no pressure to do neck surgery.

I found him to be a caring dedicated neurologist who will find you an answer. some do not like the answers perhaps because of their own agenda and poor insight in accepting what is true. Amazing how so many tell their own stories but who verifies what they say is true and what their agenda and motives are ?? -- for others who write negative: Hard to hear truth? hard to accept fact? - try telling others what the truth is in this day where everyone is an expert ... but not really.

I'm afraid I must agree with the negative reviews above. Doctor gudesblatt seems more interested in research than in his patients. It is hard to find a good neurologist on Long Island which is why I think people Go to him. His nurse practitioner celenia is is good but not good in terms of directions from doctor gudesblatt trying to work the extraordinary difficulties that neurological problems present. I resist going back to him. M from Sayville New York
