Amazing 'Bedside Manner'!
My son injured his knee during football. We got in to see Dr. Riederer for an appointment very quickly. He spoke to my son, listened to him attentively, spent time checking out his knee, and went over his x-rays. He answered all of our questions, and now my son is back to football. We really appreciated his bedside manner. Happy son, happy mom!

Happy parents!
We took our daughter to see Dr. Riederer after seeing another orthopedic surgeon. That orthopedic surgeon spent 2 minutes in the room, ordered an MRI and told us to follow up with another doctor. He referred us to Dr. Riederer. We were so thankful for Dr. Riederer. He had a wonderful bedside manner, spoke to us in a way we could understand, encouraged us to ask questions. He was very thorough examining our daughter, and told us that an MRI wasn't necessary. We never felt pressured, and spent about 30 minutes with Dr. Riederer. I cannot recommend Dr. Riederer enough!

Goes out of his way
We brought our son in for a knee injury and Dr. Riederer suspected a meniscus tear. He ordered an MRI that was done the next day. Dr. Riederer personally called us the next day to let us know that the MRI did show a meniscus tear and arranged for us to see a surgeon. We are very thankful!

Go to for sports injuries
Dr. Riederer is out go to for sports injuries. He understands the importance and commitment of the athlete and delivers news in a caring way. I have complete confidence in him. He is conservative in his approach to healing time but willing to discuss options for patients return to sport when they are healthy and healed.

Limited 'Bedside Manner'
We saw Dr. Riederer quite extensively for my son over a 6 month timeframe. While I don't doubt his knowledge or intelligence, his communication style, bedside manner, and ability to interact well with children leave something to be desired. My young son had a somewhat uncommon issue that kept recurring. It didn't feel like we were a priority nor did it feel like there were many efforts put forth to try to solve the issue (ie - speak with colleagues in a timely manner, research alternative treatment solutions). His manner was very condensing and he made by son feel guilty with each re-injury. We ultimately went a different direction with orthopedic care and wished we'd made the change earlier.

Impressed
I was impressed by Dr. Riederer's ability to listen to my child explain what happened to him with his injury. He spoke to him in an age-appropriate format, and he used fun descriptions of activities to have him go through range of motion. He had our x-rays ready when he walked into the room, and he clearly had a plan made for how to care for him. He advised my son about milk intake, and restrictions on sports activities. As a primary care doc, I was impressed with his ability to handle all of our questions. I have had other providers in the same office for injuries with my other children's injuries, and I did not have the same level of thoroughness. I could definitely tell he was a specialist for kids by his approach to my son.

Thankful
Dr. Riederer took care of my son's wrist fracture. We were about an hour late to our follow-up appointment. He was very kind to allow us to be seen, given how busy he was seeing other patients. We were very appreciative of his kindness and willingness to see our son.

Dr. Riederer was outstanding
Dr. Riederer was outstanding. His exam was thorough. He took the time to understand patient concerns and history. We never once felt rushed. He explains things to us calmly and clearly. As an added positive he primarily spoke to my son as the patient and not to me as the parent. That was definitely noticed and appreciated. Overall an excellent experience.

Patient, thorough, great bed-side manner
Dr. Mark has been our daughter's sports doc for the past 5 years. Unfortunately, our daughter, a gymnast, has had a number of injuries. We are so thankful for Dr. Riederer and his caring, patient, calm demeanor and outstanding bedside manner. He takes time to listen, speak with our daughter directly, review the x-rays, and recommend treatment. We would go to no one else for our daughter's sports injuries.

Wonderful second opinion experience
I was so glad to seek out a second opinion with Dr. Mark for my son's knee pain. We previously saw another orthopaedic surgeon where we felt rush and dismissed. Dr. Mark was a great listener, patient, did a very thorough examination, reviewed the x-rays and MRI. He addressed my concerns, and spoke to my son, which was refreshing. I'm sorry to read all the other negative comments on here, as this wasn't the experience we had.

Wonderful bedside manner
We had a wonderful visit with Dr. Riederer. He was patient, spoke directly to my child (which was refreshing), explained things in an easy to understand manner, and had a wonderful bedside manner. We would definitely recommend Dr. Riederer. I suspect in reading the other negative posts here that many families got a difficult diagnosis.

Disappointing experience
First of all I would not even let him take care of my dog. He was extremely condescending with my daughters visit and basically acted like it was my daughters fault that she was still experiencing pain. Never in my life have I meet someone like this in the medical field.

Awful experience
Very condescending in the way he spoke to my daughter and myself. Made us feel as though she was lying. Hurt to straighten her leg, and his reply was "oh, so you can't straighten just because it hurts." Yes, that is why we typically go to a doctor to see why pain, especially as a 2nd occurrence in a year. Wasn't really interested in what past doc said and didn't even have a chance to give family history. An x-ray was taken BEFORE he even came in room. After being talked down to, he said he would order MRI, I told him we would go back to doc from last year. He stood up and walked out. Maybe ego needs to be set aside and listen to what patients have to say (some of us do have medical background), don't treat us like we are beneath you.
