The best of the best
Well I have been with this doctor for 1 1/2 years. His front office staff are amazing. The surgical coordinator was extremely professional. Now to the good stuff. Dr Shactner and his PA are off the chart. Dr Shactner has one of the best attitude I have ever met. He says it the way it is. If you ask him a question and didn’t know the answer He will tell you he has no clue. He won’t beat around the bush He is straight to the point I highly recommend him if you have acid reflux issue He will even joke with you He has a great sense of humor and personality And in times like this That go a long way with me

Long journey with stomach problems
I've been under Dr. Shachners care since my unsucessful paraesopheageal hiatlys hernia emergency surgery over a year ago. Dr. Shachner was very careful to have me take all necessary tests to make sure he addressed all problems that I was having. One of the tests, a solid food study, revealed that I had Gastroparesis. Dr. Shachner referred me to his Gastroenterologist , Dr. Ernstoff and he is fantastic. They both determined that I was a candidate for a G-Poem procedure to improve the Gastroparesis, and Dr. Shachner recommended Dr. Erim at the Cleveland Clinic.I had the procedure, & my solid food study went from 30% to 83% so it was very successful. I also began to suffer from constant reflux so I had a Bravo Endoscopy performend by Dr. Ernstoff. On July 3, 2023, Dr. Shachner, and his fantastic PA Megan, performed my Surgery. Dr. Shachner repaired my Hernia and implanted the Lynx device to fix my reflux. Dr. Shachner, Dr Ernstoff, Dr Erim and PA Megan gave me my life back! So grateful!

He took a surgery which he had no experience or competence to do. He is a general surgeon and it led to a death. Have a second opinion.

Following abdominal surgery, as is the case with about 8%, I developed a hernia that needed to be repaired. I live in Surfside but chose to research available options rather than simply ask for a referral nearby. I had never heard of , did not know of, and did not hear of Dr. Schaner prior to this episode or since. I was drawn by Dr. Shachner's resume and his experience, i.e. Yale Medical School and I suspect he can do incisional hernias in his sleep based upon his having done them thousands of times. He and his staff are consummate professionals in whom I developed a high level of confidence. All of this includes scheduling appointments and coordinating with other professionals. Rating Dr. Schachner as 5-star is a no brainer.

I had just about given up on any hope for my long-standing acid reflux symptoms. I tried everything under the sun yet my symptoms still persisted. Even after cutting out my favorite foods, I still could never get a good night's sleep. Luckily, my GI recommended that I see Dr. Shachner for a new LINX device. Dr. Shachner was extremely caring and comforting and was able to explain the process in a way I could easily understand. The LINX procedure was simple, the post-op support was incredible and now I get to enjoy all my favorite foods again. Best of all, I'm sleeping better than ever!!! I highly recommend Dr. Shachner for effective GERD treatment options.

I wouldn't recommend Dr Shachner to my worst enemy. He ruined one year,of my daughter's life with a Linx surgical procedure. He refused to correct the situation even after specialists said the procedure had to be reversed. Finally almost a year later he relented, saying it wouldn't make any difference. Well,it absolutely did relieve her terribly debilating symptoms. The upshot is we received a bill for $65,000. Also, this "surgeon" doesn't carry malpractice insurance, so you really don't a realistic way recovering anything for financial loss and pain and suffering.

Simply put, Dr. Shachner is an amazing doctor. I went to see him 2 weeks ago for an inguinal hernia. He agreed to perform the surgery just as I requested and had me in within 1 week to perform the procedure. He did an amazing job. His professionalism, compassion and knowledge are only matched by his incredible bedside manner. He is absolutely the best! Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Dr. Shachner to anyone needing a similar type of medical procedure.

I suffered from acid reflux for years. My Gastronenterologist recommended Dr. Mark Shachner. Dr. Shachner repaired my hiatal hernia and inserted the LINX device. All my symptoms are gone and I am off all medication. I cannot praise Dr. Shachner enough for my great surgical result and my only regret is that I did not see Dr. Shachner sooner! Would 100 percent recommend Dr. Shachner!

I do extensive homework before I even SEE a doctor. Every moment I was with Dr. Shachner, I felt comfortable. I asked every question I could think of and his explanations were always easy to understand. The operation played out exactly as he said it would. I don't recommend easily. And even though he told me at the post surgery meeting that I didn't have to go back to him again, I'm STILL going to HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.

I can not say anything negative regarding Dr’s skills as a diagnostician/surgeon. His communication skills, however, as well as those of his office, have much to be desired. 1. Office informed me surgery to be 1-1 1/2 hours and be outpatient. Fact...4 hours with an overnight stay. 2. Unable to get through on multiple phone attempts 3. Post-op instructions not supplied by doctor/office. 4. Kept waiting 90 min in office 5. Dr rude/combative when questioned on above... took no responsibility

Dr. Shachner performed complicated surgery on my husband almost two weeks ago. The entire experience with the doctor and his staff, right from his first visit through his final post op visit with the doctor has been great. Appointments are easy to make, the office wait time is minimal, the entire staff is friendly and kind. Most importantly, the doctor is warm, caring, kind and patient. He answered all our questions, over and over and spent as much time as we needed.

I received the rather frightening diagnosis of colon cancer and was referred to Dr Schachner for surgery. Upon seeing him in the office I was immediately put at ease and felt all would go well. Surgery was done robotically and indeed my post op course has gone very smoothly. I highly recommend Dr Schachner.

I needed Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal and Dr. Shachner was highly recommended by another physician. After meeting with Dr. Shachner, to discuss my surgery, I was put at ease right away. He is very honest, patient, and professional. I had the procedure about a week ago and am recovering wonderfully. I understand why he has such a great reputation. If you need a surgeon, I would also highly recommend that you seek him out.

As a longtime patient continually accompanied by her husband for two surgeries and regular monitoring, we are delighted to give Dr. Mark Shachner the highest recommendation and praise. Dr. Shachner has outstanding credentials. He is highly skilled and very knowledgeable. Dr. Shachner is medically conservative and cautious, and he also has a keen eye for making critical, on-the-spot surgical decisions.
