Not a good Shepherd
I had been left alone in my ER room by an competent, harried nurse after receiving fentynal for an extemely painful kidney stone. I couldn't get out of the bed to get the pillow across the room. As Dr. Sheperd and his scribe entered the room, I asked politely if he could bring me the pillow. He said I "could" in a patronizing tone. Realizing I was being corrected on 'could vs would', I asked if he would bring me the pillow. He then asked me, in a pedantic tone, "What is the magic word?" Once I said please, he gave me the pillow. That would have been a hilarious exchange except for the fact that I came to the ER sweating profusely and vomiting from what felt like someone pulling my kidney and bladder out of my body using my left urethra. Speaking of which, I appreciated Dr. Shepherd's lecturing me on the difference between ureter and urethra. I gave him a three because when a patient is in extreme high level of pain, they would still accept condescending treatment over none.

Dr. Shepherd is an outstanding and caring physician who addressed my issue (a puncture wound) promptly and with great skill. His instructions before and after care were clear, and he was able to handle my wound with a minimal amount of pain on my part. I'm grateful to him, and I'm thankful he is my doctor!
