A very caring doctor. We never felt rushed during appointments. He was reassuring to us as parents of a newly diagnosed Type 1. He was incredibly kind to my daughter.

It's been four years since I was transferred to Dr. Watkins after my original endocrinologist retired, but I still have not seen him. Each appointment has been with the nurse practitioner, all of which have had the EXACT same structure: she prescribes me to perform a series of useless tests that turn out normal. We have been shelling out money for these tests for no results: this is not a plan to treat a patient, but rather to empty their wallet.

We changed docs. During a hospital stay he filed a report without speaking to me first that our son was not getting his meds so a social worker got involved. Had he bothered to ask he would have found out the script had been filled elsewhere. When we did talk about it he took a personal call in the middle 2ft from me about his son getting into his 1st choice school. Had it been an emergency I wouldn't be upset but it wasn't. He also never sounded confident about anything he was telling us.

I feel like Dr. Watkins has always been very honest in his interactions with us. He has been willing to let us know if he sees anything that concerns him, and has always given us our test results promptly. It seems like he is very good at explaining what is going on in simple layman's terms. Overall, he has been a fantastic doctor!
