rushed, dismissive, did not listen, poor quality.
I am an experienced physician. He arrived late. Appointment was a rushed 25 minute appointment. He disregarded my written history. He just sat in front of the computer, checking off a headache template on the software. I was charged for a comprehensive visit which is 80 minutes. The documentation he produced does not portray my problem accurately. Records of the visit were available to other non Mayo providers because of sharing of electronic records. Other providers were under the impression that it was a comprehensive evaluation and this has caused problems ever since. I complained to the leadership of Mayo clinic and they agreed with his actions. The visit was expensive. The buildings were beautiful but the quality of doctors very poor. There is a system at the Mayo clinic were they 'Flag' your chart if you are a donor. The system there is not genuine.

Super nice and educated
I had read some of the bad reviews and was honestly scared to go in but Dr. Whealy was very nice, professional, educated, and listened and explained everything he thought would help me and why. He answered all my questions and didn’t force me into trying anything I didn’t want to. He took notes over everything I said and took my symptoms into account and was able to explain medications that would help at correct doses others experience relief instead of just giving out a random dose. He was very kind and I felt comfortable there.

Great Doctor
I have had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Whealy. He explained things well, showed and reviewed with me my MRI and the areas in question. I tend to ask a lot of questions and he had no problem with that. I would highly recommend Dr. Whealy.

Don’t waste your time. Lack of patient manners, dismissive and uncaring. Mayo is expensive. There are better options for your expenses than this guy. He often works the clinics as well, general clinic, so don’t get caught up in that trick because you can get in sooner. Mindfully choose someone WILLING to help and listen

Left feeling worse
Came in with a rare headache condition. Was given a cisternagram as a diagnostic procedure. Was put in incredible pain with vomiting for several days while I got no contact from the doc or mayo until 2 ER visits and 3 days later. Still in poor condition with dizziness and tinnitus and they recommended ANOTHER lumbar puncture after the 1st has made me suffer for a week straight with no help. I told them no and the nurse for Dr whealy hung up on me.

Poor Experience
My experience at Mayo clinic with Dr Whealy was not good. I was so excited to finally get a chance to come to Mayo but was highly disappointed with him. He had the personality of a door knob - no bedside manners at all. After meeting with him I felt like he really didn't care at all about me and what was going on with my severe headaches. He just rattled off a bunch of recommended medications and sent me on my way home. I was very discouraged considering I had heard nothing but good things about Mayo clinic.

Worst medical visit I’ve ever experienced
I met with Dr. Whealy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and it was the worst medical visit and waste of my time and money. I’ve never complained about a medical practitioner, ever… he was that bad that this review was worthy of writing. He wouldn’t let me speak, didn’t care what I had to say about what had been going on with my condition. I traveled a long way to see someone at the Mayo Clinic and he basically showed me how to get a coupon online for a medication. I’m a RN and am very familiar with the medical world and this visit shocked me. His demeanor and bedside manner is far from what I would expect for the Mayo Clinic. His office note reflected things that were not true, things I never said and some of his recommendations were negligent. There are way better neurologists out there that will better explain, give you a thorough workup, and have some compassion, and actually help you.

Dr. Whealy is the most competent and engaged headache specialist I have ever visited, and I have visited 4 other top US headache specialists prior to visiting Mayo Clinic. He listened, he worked diliently to understand past regimens/results and shortcomings, and quickly came up with a treatment plan that changed my life immensely--headache relief, finally. He also offered alternative plans in advance should the first method of treatment not work. The "plans" which gave me hope that he would keep helping my case if treatments didn't improve my sad predicament. He also understood costs that I would incur given various options, which was so helpful. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs help with severe headaches resistent to drug and non-drug therapies they have already tried exhaustively.

Dr. Whealy was kind, professional and thorough. He took care to diagnose and explain a multi pronged issue other doctors didn’t. His treatment plan and compassion for those in pain was excellent. His follow up care also good. Have to jump through some ropes before you get to see a true headache specialist like him at Mayo, but worth it.
