Best doctor I've ever had
I no longer see Dr. Van Kooten, as my employer requires me to see doctors in our network, but when I did see her (as well as my family), she was the most attentive doctor I had (I am not someone who like going to see the doctor). She always punctual and took her time to listen to what was going on with me, I always felt taken care of, not processed. She got my blood pressure under control almost immediately after I stated seeing her and got my A1C in line. She put me at ease, and I never felt rushed. She was straight to the point, without being rude, and came across as extremely caring. I hate that I can’t see her anymore because she is not in my network, but I can’t give enough of a high rating to this doctor. I am thankful that I got to be a patient of doctor Van Kooten, she has helped me view my health with a much

Van Kooten was dismissive of my health concerns, rude, rushed, and even behaved aggressively toward me when I persisted telling her my medical history. She’s useless as a doctor, and will not advocate for your well being.

Listens well and provides good feedback and directions. Takes time to listen and can relate to and understand issues that can be more complex. Very helpful when several other doctors were not.

When I asked her to correct my medical records, she acted like I was insulting her and refused to treat me for an infection which I am still fighting off over a year later because she wouldn't even see me. I had a trauma which she wouldn't x ray for 3 months. Turns out... broken bones. Everything you say to her, she perceives as a challenge/insult.

VERY DISSAPPOINTED. We have a new freshman at IU. Right before leaving for school our family doctor found some health concerns and wanted follow up test to be done. We are looking for a local doctor in Bloomington to transfer records and provide care. Got the typical "not accepting new patients". Guess a new resident to the Bloomington area can't get medical care.

She was willing to go the extra mile for us the day I was diagnosed with cancer. My husband literally fell apart from stress, and although she had left the office for the day, one of the staff called her at home and she came back to the office to hold his hand and prescribe some nerve medicine. On her private time. There are a few good people left and she is one--compassionate and knowledgeable.

She is a fantastic doctor, however the office staff and blood lab technicians act like you are a bother to them and are downright rude at times. I will find another doctor's office where the treatment by staff is better.
