Dr. Matthew Basiaga, DO

My experience at the Mayo was one of my very worst medical experiences ever. I was referred for the possibility of lupus and left the appointment being told it’s probably not lupus but they weren’t even. They didn’t tell me any next steps or anything just left me in The state of distress that I entered the appointment in. I have been unable to function like a normal normal person for months now and they have done absolutely nothing to help me. I was also not told for lab appointments that I was supposed to be fasting. Truly useful at all. They are the opposite of thorough and just leave you high and dry. They tell you it’s not this one specific little thing and then give you zero recommendations on what to do next we waited almost a year for the appointment and left with absolutely no answers and no steps. Staff are also rude and short with patients both in person and over the phone. Go anywhere but here, they will not help you.

We encounter a lot of doctors in many different specialities and Dr. Basiaga is one of the best. He is kind, calm and explains things in a way that isn't degrading. When no explanation of rare symptoms (on 2 of our children) leaves us feeling defeated, frustrated and completely drained, Dr. Basiaga has a way of responding to that in a manner unlike many Physicians. He brings me back and explains things in a way I understand. We don't have a diagnosis yet, but since we saw Dr. Basiaga, we have never been more close. He does appropriate labs, scans and tests looking for answers. Also deferring us to the areas that will get us closer to diagnosis. He is phenomenal and we feel so blessed to have landed in his care.
